Job Description

Live-In House Manager
Wichita Falls, TX
(Unpaid Position – Housing Provided)

About the Opportunity

We are building a structured, supportive sober living home and are seeking our first Live-In House Manager. This is a meaningful leadership role for someone in recovery who wants to give back, help shape a positive culture, and support residents as they work toward long-term sobriety and independence.

You will be the on-site leader and the steady presence that keeps the home running smoothly, safe, and accountable. This is not a clinical, counseling, or case-management position. It is a hands-on leadership and operations role focused on structure, consistency, enforcement of rules, and creating a healthy living environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce house rules and program expectations fairly and consistently
  • Monitor curfews and maintain resident accountability
  • Conduct or assist with drug and alcohol testing
  • Report incidents and maintain basic documentation
  • Help keep the home clean, safe, and well-maintained
  • Encourage and support residents in attending recovery meetings
  • Assist with resident conflict resolution
  • Maintain clear communication with ownership
  • Help with rent collection (or communicate issues promptly)
  • Assist with filling vacant beds and light community outreach
  • Build relationships with local recovery meetings, treatment centers, probation officers, and other referral sources

What We’re Looking For

We want someone who leads by example and has strong personal recovery. The best House Managers combine lived experience with emotional maturity, consistency, and the ability to enforce boundaries with respect and fairness.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 9–12 months of continuous sobriety
  • Active involvement in a recovery community
  • Honest, trustworthy, calm under pressure, and dependable
  • Comfortable enforcing rules and boundaries without creating unnecessary drama
  • Emotionally mature and professional
  • Reliable transportation
  • Basic computer and smartphone skills
  • Stable employment or another reliable source of income (this is an unpaid role that includes housing, so candidates must not be solely financially dependent on this position)
  • Willingness to commit to the role for at least one year

Strongly Preferred:

  • Existing connections within the local recovery community (treatment centers, meetings, probation, hospitals, churches, veteran organizations, etc.)
  • Previous leadership, peer support, or house manager experience (a plus, but not required)

Compensation

This is a non-paid position.

Compensation consists of:

  • A free private room
  • All utilities paid

There is no salary.

Time Commitment (approximate):
1–1.5 hours per resident per week. For most homes this equals 8–20 hours of active responsibilities per week, depending on the number of residents. Because you live on-site, you provide consistent presence and oversight while still having personal time.

Why This Role Matters

The House Manager is the heart of daily operations and culture. You help protect the investment in the home, support residents’ recovery, maintain occupancy, and build the local reputation that keeps beds filled. Many of the best House Managers in this field started with strong personal recovery and a genuine desire to serve.

How to Apply

Please send:

  • Your resume
  • A short cover letter (1 page or less) that includes:
    – Your recovery journey (how long sober and what program(s) you’re involved in)
    – Why you’re interested in this specific role
    – What you believe makes a strong House Manager
    – Any connections you have in the local recovery community

We review every application personally. We are looking for the right fit — someone reliable, mature, and ready to help build something meaningful from the ground up.
