AWS Data Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC (Onsite Tuesday & Wednesday)
Duration: 18-Month Contract
Openings: 3 Total (1 must be based in/near Charlotte, NC; 2 open to relocation)
Compensation
- Up to $64/hour on W2

About the Opportunity
Insight Global is seeking experienced AWS Data Engineers to join a Financial Client on a large-scale data modernization initiative. This team is focused on unifying and migrating legacy data platforms into a modern AWS-based ecosystem that supports multiple lines of business across the organization.
This is a highly technical, hands-on data engineering position for professionals who enjoy designing, building, and optimizing cloud-based data pipelines while working closely with business and technology teams to solve complex data challenges.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, build, test, and maintain scalable ETL/data pipelines in AWS
- Develop data integration solutions using AWS Glue, PySpark, Python, and SQL
- Migrate and transform data from legacy systems into modern cloud-based platforms
- Analyze source data, validate business requirements, and recommend data solutions
- Enhance and optimize existing data models and pipeline performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions
- Troubleshoot pipeline issues and implement improvements to ensure reliability and scalability
- Work independently to drive projects forward and take ownership of technical deliverables
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL Development, or related fields
- 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience building and maintaining data solutions
- Strong expertise with AWS Glue
- Strong experience with PySpark (AWS Glue experience highly preferred)
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, data profiling, and performance optimization
- Experience designing and building end-to-end ETL pipelines
- Strong Python programming skills and understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
- Experience working with large-scale data migration or modernization projects
- Ability to perform data analysis, interpret business requirements, and translate them into technical solutions
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience explaining project work, technical decisions, and business impact to stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS services such as S3 and other cloud-native data tools
- Background with legacy ETL technologies such as Ab Initio, Talend, Informatica, or similar platforms
- Understanding of AI tools, agents, and practical use cases
- Experience optimizing PySpark jobs and AWS-based data processing workloads
- Knowledge of CI/CD processes supporting data engineering environments
