About the Opportunity

Insight Global is seeking experienced AWS Data Engineers to join a Financial Client on a large-scale data modernization initiative. This team is focused on unifying and migrating legacy data platforms into a modern AWS-based ecosystem that supports multiple lines of business across the organization.

This is a highly technical, hands-on data engineering position for professionals who enjoy designing, building, and optimizing cloud-based data pipelines while working closely with business and technology teams to solve complex data challenges.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, build, test, and maintain scalable ETL/data pipelines in AWS
  • Develop data integration solutions using AWS Glue, PySpark, Python, and SQL
  • Migrate and transform data from legacy systems into modern cloud-based platforms
  • Analyze source data, validate business requirements, and recommend data solutions
  • Enhance and optimize existing data models and pipeline performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions
  • Troubleshoot pipeline issues and implement improvements to ensure reliability and scalability
  • Work independently to drive projects forward and take ownership of technical deliverables

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL Development, or related fields
  • 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience building and maintaining data solutions
  • Strong expertise with AWS Glue
  • Strong experience with PySpark (AWS Glue experience highly preferred)
  • Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, data profiling, and performance optimization
  • Experience designing and building end-to-end ETL pipelines
  • Strong Python programming skills and understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
  • Experience working with large-scale data migration or modernization projects
  • Ability to perform data analysis, interpret business requirements, and translate them into technical solutions
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience explaining project work, technical decisions, and business impact to stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS services such as S3 and other cloud-native data tools
  • Background with legacy ETL technologies such as Ab Initio, Talend, Informatica, or similar platforms
  • Understanding of AI tools, agents, and practical use cases
  • Experience optimizing PySpark jobs and AWS-based data processing workloads
  • Knowledge of CI/CD processes supporting data engineering environments

Ideal Background

We're looking for true Data Engineers rather than Software Engineers. Strong candidates often come from:

  • Data Engineering
  • ETL Development
  • Data Warehousing
  • Analytics Engineering
  • Advanced Data Analyst backgrounds that evolved into engineering-focused roles

Candidates should demonstrate recent, hands-on AWS experience and be comfortable discussing the architecture, development, and deployment of end-to-end data pipelines.
