Job Description
The Maintenance Technician ensures reliable operation of industrial production equipment by diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems. This role requires advanced technical expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, pumps, drives, relays, three-phase power, communication devices, industrial and electronic controls, and power transmission systems. The technician will perform preventive maintenance, lead electrical installations and repairs, and support continuous production by quickly identifying and resolving equipment issues.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose malfunctions in industrial machinery and electronic systems using test equipment, software, and knowledge of functional operation.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment, including checking, cleaning, repairing, and calibrating components to detect and prevent problems.
- Maintain detailed equipment logs documenting performance issues, repairs, calibrations, tests, and downtime in both physical records and the electronic maintenance downtime log.
- Lead installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical equipment in the facility, ensuring work meets applicable codes and standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on production machinery and related equipment.
- Operate equipment as needed to demonstrate proper use, verify repairs, and analyze malfunctions under actual operating conditions.
- Run electrical conduit in a professional manner in accordance with the National Electrical Code, including wiring starters, motors, controls, and breaker panels.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues on PLC, CNC, and PC-controlled equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Interpret and follow electrical schematics and general blueprints to perform accurate installations, repairs, and modifications.
- Support the installation and ongoing maintenance of sheet extrusion and thermoforming machinery used in plastics production.
- Collaborate with production personnel to identify recurring equipment issues and implement corrective actions and improvements.
- Adhere to safety procedures and best practices while working with electrical systems, moving machinery, and industrial equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment, particularly with plastics or extrusion equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation beyond electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with sheet extrusion machinery and thermoforming equipment is beneficial.
- Comfort working with three-phase electrical power and complex industrial control systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
- Ability to work independently on a third-shift schedule while collaborating effectively with other team members across shifts.
- Willingness to adapt to evolving equipment and processes as new machinery is installed.
- Solid communication skills to coordinate with production and maintenance teams regarding equipment status and repair needs.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $79040.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
