Overview
We have an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the design and delivery of HVAC systems across a variety of project types. This role offers the opportunity to lead technical efforts, mentor junior staff, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams on complex projects in the commercial, industrial, municipal, and healthcare sectors.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, municipal, and healthcare facilities
- Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system sizing using industry‐standard software
- Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, specifications, details, and controls diagrams
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines throughout project execution
- Conduct site visits, field inspections, and provide construction administration support, including review of shop drawings and RFIs
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
- Perform QA/QC reviews to maintain high standards of quality and consistency
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
- Interface with clients, attend project meetings, and present technical solutions
- Support proposal development and participate in interviews as needed
- Conduct site assessments and prepare technical reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Minimum of 10 years of HVAC design experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams)
- Experience with HVAC design and analysis software (e.g., Trane TRACE, HAP, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, energy efficiency standards, and sustainable design practices
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- PE license in NY and/or NJ preferred
