Project Engineer


Location: Hayward, CA (servicing various sites across the Greater Bay Area)

Industry Focus: Institutional Education Construction Projects

Employment Type: Full-time


Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Engineer to support ground-up and modernization institutional education projects across the Greater Bay Area. Based out of the Hayward office, this role provides critical administrative and technical support throughout all phases of construction, from bidding and documentation to project closeout.


Must Haves


  • A minimum of 2yrs' of experience in a Project Engineering role
  • Ability to track and manage RFIs, submittals, and related documentation to meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency using Procore or equivalent construction management platforms
  • Understanding of subcontractor and owner contract documentation, including change orders
  • Ability to support construction bidding processes, including plan distribution and bid recaps
  • Competence in preparing closeout packages, notice of completion, and archiving project files
  • A Driving License and reliable transportation to travel to various project sites as needed


Nice to Haves


  • Experience delivering institutional education projects from start to finish
  • Prior experience with either DSA or OSHPD regulated projects
  • Familiarity with prevailing wage documentation and compliance workflows
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience coordinating with accounting teams on owner billing and cost reporting
  • Exposure to commercial or industrial projects in addition to institutional work


Responsibilities


  • Provide comprehensive administrative and documentation support to assigned Project Managers
  • Process subcontractor agreements, POs, work orders, and change orders in Procore within 48 hours
  • Process owner contracts, change order proposals, and final change orders as required
  • Receive and log executed subcontract documents and upload to Procore within 24 hours
  • Prepare and track RFIs and submittals in accordance with project schedules and deadlines
  • Draft and issue professional correspondence as needed or directed
  • Support bidding processes including document preparation, outreach, and tracking
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date project files throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide field teams with current subcontractor and project information
  • Prepare project closeout documents and notice of completion within 30 days of project wrap-up
  • Label and organize field/office files and prepare for archiving
  • Coordinate and schedule project start-up and close-out meetings
  • Generate cost reports and assist with monthly financial reporting
  • Attend weekly project meetings and document outcomes as needed
  • Collaborate with the Accounting team on billing cycles and resolve related issues
