Job Title: Linux Infrastructure Engineer Consultant

Duration: 12 months with extension possible to 18 months

\n

Location: Pennington, NJ (3 days per week onsite)

\n

Other Approved Location: Jersey City, NJ

\n

Pay Scale: $60-63/hr W2 (Cannot subcontract or C2C)

Job Description:

\n

We are seeking a skilled Linux Infrastructure Engineer to maintain, monitor, and support our financial services client's core infrastructure platforms. In this role, you will be heavily focused on hands-on troubleshooting, operational maintenance, and incident resolution across cloud, virtual, and bare-metal environments. This role will work closely with our client's operations teams to execute on platform automation (Configuration Management and IaC), migrations to cloud (AWS and Azure), harden production systems, and evolve support tooling.

Key Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Operations & Patch Management: Execute routine server maintenance, including Linux OS patching, kernel upgrades, and standard build deployments.
  • \n

  • Monitoring & Observability: Utilize logging and monitoring tools to proactively track system health, analyze log data, and respond to automated performance alerts.
  • \n

  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Support daily environment provisioning, apply required security updates, and assist with data center migrations and End-of-Life (EOL) hardware/software replacements.
  • \n

  • Compliance & Technical Support: Partner with wider infrastructure teams to enforce rigorous server compliance, maintain security standards, and troubleshoot non-compliant systems.
  • \n

  • Ticket & Stakeholder Management: Manage incoming operational tickets, communicate system status updates to various Lines of Business (LoBs), and document resolution procedures.

Required Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Linux Administration: Hands-on experience supporting and administering enterprise Linux distributions (RHEL, Rocky, or CentOS) in a production environment.
  • \n

  • Monitoring Tools: Experience using observability and logging platforms (such as Splunk, Nagios, Prometheus, or Grafana) to triage infrastructure issues.
  • \n

  • Automation: Familiarity with executing configuration management scripts (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef) and using version control systems (Git) to maintain systems.
  • \n

  • Infrastructure Knowledge: Understanding of fundamental networking concepts, virtualized environments (VMware), cloud platforms, and basic bare-metal hardware support.
  • \n

  • Communication: Ability to clearly communicate technical issues and resolution steps to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • \n
