Job Description

Job Description Truck Upfitting Integration Engineer — Dixon, IL

Picture your day starting with a fresh build sheet for a custom truck. You open your 3D CAD workspace, lay out the chassis, and map weight distribution so the final rig handles as expected. Before lunch, you’re reviewing hydraulic and electrical schematics with the installation lead, refining hose routing and harness lengths to streamline assembly. In the afternoon, Sales drops by to confirm a customer’s spec change, and you host a quick technical review to lock in compatibility before cutting parts. That’s a typical day in this role—hands-on design paired with close collaboration across Sales, Engineering, and Production to turn ideas into reliable equipment on the road.

What You’ll Own

  • End-to-end ownership of custom truck equipment application projects—from concept through installation and sign-off.
  • Creation and revision of 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and clear installation documentation.
  • Chassis layout development, weight distribution analysis, and subsystem integration strategies.
  • Authoring and maintaining hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Hands-on technical guidance for installation teams, including troubleshooting during builds.
  • Facilitating technical design reviews with Sales and Installation to confirm feasibility and accuracy.
  • Improving quoting, design, and installation workflows for better speed and consistency.
  • Supporting custom and prototype builds to prove out new concepts.
  • Driving modular, standardized solutions that accelerate manufacturing and boost quality.
  • Tracking industry regulations, trends, and emerging technologies in truck equipment and chassis systems.

Qualifications to Succeed

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Engineering, Engineering Technology, CAD Design, or a related technical field (preferred).
  • Experience: 3+ years in heavy equipment or agricultural machinery design, truck body integration, or applications engineering (required).
  • Technical depth: Hydraulic and electrical systems with strong schematic interpretation (required).
  • Regulatory familiarity: DOT or FMVSS exposure (preferred).
  • Tools: Proficiency with 3D CAD (required); SolidWorks experience (preferred).

Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay: $60,000 – $80,000 per year
  • Type: Full-time, 1st Shift, On-site
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, normal business hours

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Profit Sharing
  • Health Savings Account with company match
  • Short- and Long-Term Disability
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • PTO and Paid Holidays
  • And more

Please Note:

This role does not offer visa sponsorship or relocation assistance. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.
