Job DescriptionFull-Time Maintenance Technician – Assisted Living

Location: New York State Assisted Living Residence
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Evening shift, weekend, holiday, or on-call coverage as needed

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Full-Time Maintenance Technician to help maintain a safe, clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors in our assisted living community. This role is responsible for routine maintenance, minor repairs, preventive upkeep, grounds care, and timely response to facility needs while supporting the standards expected in a New York State assisted living setting.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform routine building maintenance, repairs, and inspections throughout the residence.

· Assist with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, HVAC, appliance, and general repair needs within scope of experience.

· Respond promptly to maintenance requests and resident safety concerns.

· Maintain resident rooms, common areas, offices, storage areas, equipment rooms, and exterior areas in good working order.

· Support preventive maintenance programs, including documentation of completed tasks as assigned.

· Perform groundskeeping duties, including sidewalk maintenance, seasonal cleanup, lawn care support, and snow and ice removal as needed.

· Maintain tools, equipment, maintenance supplies, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.

· Assist with room turnovers, furniture moves, deliveries, and set-up for facility needs or events.

· Follow safety procedures, infection-control practices, emergency procedures, and applicable facility policies.

· Communicate maintenance concerns, supply needs, hazards, and repair priorities to the supervisor or administrator.

· Support regulatory readiness by helping maintain a clean, safe, and compliant physical environment.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Prior maintenance, facilities, custodial, construction, or repair experience preferred.

· Experience in assisted living, senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or residential facilities is a plus.

· Basic knowledge of building systems, tools, safety practices, and general repair techniques.

· Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond professionally to resident and staff needs.

· Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, climb, and stand/walk for extended periods as required by the role.

· Valid New York State driver’s license preferred or required if driving is part of assigned duties.

· Must meet applicable pre-employment requirements, which may include background checks, health assessment, references, and facility-required training.

· Professional, respectful communication with older adults, families, vendors, and team members.

· Ability to identify maintenance issues before they become larger concerns.

· Comfort using maintenance logs, checklists, work orders, or basic digital systems.

· Willingness to support emergency preparedness, drills, inspections, and facility improvement projects.
