Job Title: Maintenance Custodian
Job Description
This position is primarily focused on janitorial and custodial responsibilities while also providing general facility support and basic maintenance assistance throughout the church campus.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, hallways, meeting rooms, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces throughout the facility.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and transport waste to designated collection areas.
- Replenish restroom and cleaning supplies as needed.
- Clean windows, doors, furniture, fixtures, and other facility surfaces.
- Perform routine inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Change interior and exterior light bulbs, including standard and commercial bulbs.
- Safely use ladders when performing light maintenance tasks.
- Assist with room setups and breakdowns for church services, meetings, events, and parish activities.
- Move, arrange, and store tables, chairs, and other equipment as needed.
- Monitor church grounds and building exterior for cleanliness and appearance.
- Pick up litter and debris around sidewalks, parking lots, entrances, and landscaped areas.
- Pull weeds and assist with basic grounds beautification efforts.
- Help maintain a clean and welcoming exterior environment for parishioners and visitors.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and repair needs to management.
- Assist with basic facility upkeep and support maintenance projects as assigned.
Essential Skills
- 2-3 years of experience in facility maintenance, maintenance helper, custodian, janitorial, or housekeeping roles.
- Experience in facility maintenance such as changing light bulbs and basic repair.
- Groundskeeping experience, including pulling weeds and trash disposal.
- Experience in moving and setting up tables, chairs, and other equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

Work Environment
The position requires working from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, with potential needs to be willing to work one Sunday every 3-4 weeks on a rotating basis. You will be part of a team working alongside a facility manager and 3 other facility team members.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Williamsburg, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
