Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Position
Summary
Reporting
to the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for
diagnosing and applying appropriate remedies to electrical problems including,
but not limited to; replacement and adjustment of components, integral units,
motors, controls, etc. This
electro-mechanical job is responsible for installing and maintaining electrical
systems to provide power for machines, equipment, lighting, facilities and
other apparatus in accordance with codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
The Maintenance Technician installs
panel controls, switches, air-conditioning systems, etc. in accordance with
specifications, and/or schematic drawings. The role is required to maintain and adjust
or replace mechanical components such as gears, belts, chains, shafts, guards,
hoses, couplings, etc. In addition, the
technician is required to use appropriate tools to successfully perform all
functions as described previously.
Responsibilities:
Electrical
Functions:
- Requisition material and assist to maintain replacement parts inventory
- Observe and comply with safety precautions, utilizing extreme care on troubleshooting and repairs where high voltages are involved
- Use appropriate test instruments and equipment to test and ensure compatibility and safety of all circuits, components, switches, controls, etc., to assure performance quality and operation
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all pieces of production equipment
- Maintain all documentation related to any maintenance tasks
- Install new equipment as required
- Work with production personnel to ensure proper operation of equipment
- Follow all safety policies and codes as determined by the Safety Manager
Maintenance
Functions:
- Repair and maintain buildings, facilities, all machines and equipment
- Responsible for the operation plumbing, heating and ventilating systems
- Maintain buildings including repair of windows, doors, roof, floors, stairways; construct partitions, bins, racks; remove snow, oil and lubricate machines and equipment
- Diagnose and remedy mechanical and minor electrical problems, repair and adjust a variety of machinery and equipment such as drill presses, lathes, punch presses, welders, grinders, shear-brake presses, vehicles, hoists, etc.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain assets
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on all equipment and facilities
- Work from drawings, sketches, blueprints, specifications, manuals, and verbal instructions
- Use micrometers, scales, levels, squares, power bench tools, wrenches, carpentry tools, etc.
- Keep work area clean and orderly
Qualifications:
- Possesses 3 years of experience in maintenance technical role
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems
- Effectively troubleshoot equipment problems to determine root cause
- Read electrical and fluid power schematics and mechanical blueprints
- Prioritize tasks in order of importance
- Obtain and retain a fork truck operator license; operates mobile machinery such as aerial lifts, forklifts, floor sweepers, etc.
- Ability to operate all maintenance shop tools and equipment such as micrometers, scales, levels, carpentry tools, squares, power bench tools, wrenches, specialty mechanic tools like gear pullers, etc.
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates willingness to learn
- Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving skills
- Experiencing in using a PC and able to use Microsoft office programs such as; Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.; familiarity with JDE software preferred
- Able to lift 75 lbs
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather
- Ability to climb ladders and work safely at heights
- Ability to perform non-standard work safely (tight spaces, crawling, knees, etc.)

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Madison, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
