Senior Manager, Software Development 5451
Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid - Cumberland/Galleria area)
Compensation: $150,000-$155,000 Base + 10% Bonus
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Software Development to lead the engineering team behind a rapidly growing smart access platform serving the self-storage industry.
This is a highly visible leadership role for a hands-on manager who can balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution. You'll lead a team of developers responsible for cloud infrastructure, web applications, mobile applications, and connected IoT products. Success in this role is defined by your ability to align teams, remove roadblocks, drive delivery, and ensure engineering efforts translate into tangible business outcomes.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in cloud-connected software and IoT platforms, has experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, and thrives in a player/coach environment where collaboration, accountability, and execution are paramount.
What You'll Do
Engineering Leadership & Delivery
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of 6 software engineers across backend, web, mobile, and cloud technologies
- Establish a high-performance engineering culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and delivery
- Drive execution across multiple product initiatives while ensuring alignment with company objectives
- Translate strategic priorities into actionable engineering plans and measurable outcomes
- Partner closely with Product, Operations, and Customer Success leaders to prioritize roadmap initiatives and deliver customer value
Technical Leadership
- Provide architectural guidance across cloud infrastructure, mobile applications, web platforms, and connected-device ecosystems
- Ensure systems are scalable, secure, reliable, and designed for long-term growth
- Champion engineering best practices around code quality, testing, observability, CI/CD, and release management
- Oversee backend development utilizing Go and AWS cloud-native services
- Guide frontend and mobile application development leveraging React, TypeScript, React Native, Swift, and Kotlin
Platform & Integration Management
- Drive the evolution of a cloud-connected IoT platform powering access and automation experiences
- Lead integrations with third-party SaaS platforms, access control systems, and identity providers
- Ensure secure implementation of authentication, authorization, encryption, device provisioning, and access management practices
- Collaborate with external vendors and development partners to successfully execute strategic initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering leadership experience managing software development teams
- Proven success delivering and scaling cloud-connected IoT platforms
- Strong hands-on experience with Go and AWS cloud infrastructure
- Experience leading full-stack engineering teams across backend, web, and mobile applications
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, release management, monitoring, and production operations
- Demonstrated ability to drive execution, manage competing priorities, and deliver business outcomes through engineering teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with smart access, connected-device, IoT, prop-tech, or access control platforms
- Experience integrating with third-party SaaS solutions and identity providers using OAuth and SAML
- React, TypeScript, and React Native expertise
- Native mobile development experience with Swift and/or Kotlin
- Strong understanding of application and device security, including RBAC, TLS, encryption, and secure provisioning
- Experience leading engineering teams responsible for hardware-connected software products
- Experience managing third-party development partners and external vendors
