Development Officer
Reports to: Head of School
Classification: Exempt
Purpose
This position supports the school’s leadership by cultivating a culture of generosity and expanding relationships with families, grandparents, alumni, churches, businesses, and other friends of GCS with the purpose of increasing donor giving. This individual must be spiritually mature and will reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ at all times and grow the mission of Grace Christian School.
Candidate Profile
Spiritually
The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:
- Acceptance without reservation of Grace Christian School’s statement of faith.
- A strong, clear Christian testimony.
- A mature, godly spirit.
- A person of faith and prayer.
- Demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth as evidenced by prayer life, Bible study and spiritual outreach to others.
- Actively participate in a Bible-believing church.
- Have a conviction that God has called her/him to Christian school ministry.
- Follow the Matthew 18 Principle in dealing with conflict.
- Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, and good taste consistent with school policy.
Professionally
The candidate shall:
- Be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are

- Be computer literate
- Have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail in project assignments.
- Possess disciplined time management skills; able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Have integrity in dealing with confidential information and understand the importance of discernment and direction in the operation of the school.
- Have the gift of being flexible and supportive of job assignments.
- Be highly self-motivated.
- Possess the customer service and public relations skills necessary to welcome the general public.
- Have the ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors
- Possess humility and a willingness to be a team player.

- Maintain any appropriate certifications as directed by the superintendent/principal.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Cultivate meaningful relationships with donors as vital members of the GCS community. This relational fundraising philosophy is aligned with our core values and commitments as a school community.
- Steward the Annual Fund Program to connect donors to support the growth and financial sustainability of Grace Christian School.
- Design and execute the annual fund calendar of events, programs, and communications.
- Manage the SGO Initiative
- Manage the Communication Calendar focused on development and opportunities to support GCS.
- Manage the Donor Database to ensure consistent communication, acknowledgment of gifts, and donor records.
- Participate in local community events and networks (e.g., Chamber of Commerce, Associations, Networks) as a representative of Grace Christian School.
- Support the Head of School with fundraising efforts that include campaigns, major gifts, and storytelling.
- Other duties and responsibilities as coordinated with the Head of School.
