This role requires an experienced industrial maintenance professional with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. You will work in a fast-paced, 24/7 production facility, using mechanical, electrical, and fabrication skills to keep production equipment in safe, reliable operating condition. You will repair and install equipment, align and set up new machinery, and support motor control systems to ensure continuous, efficient operation of the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment to restore reliable operation.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly and operate efficiently.
  • Inspect drives, motors, belts, and related components, check fluid levels, replace filters, and complete other maintenance tasks by following established checklists.
  • Use a wide range of tools, including hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate corrective actions by referencing blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as needed.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose issues, and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other moving parts.
  • Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, forklifts, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Plan and lay out repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams.
  • Submit part orders and repair reports accurately, effectively, and in a timely manner.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools and metering equipment.
  • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment as needed for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Work safely and consistently within the physical requirements of an industrial maintenance environment.
  • For mechanically focused responsibilities: perform light welding (MIG, TIG, or Stick), troubleshoot industrial machinery, and support maintenance of gears, motors, rollers, printing presses, gluers, and formers.
  • For electrically focused responsibilities: perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems (without programming), work with limit switches, interpret and follow electrical schematics, and apply knowledge of ladder logic.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical or electrical maintenance background, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, 24/7 production facility.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems, including drives, motors, belts, gears, rollers, and related components.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, including inspections, lubrication, filter changes, and routine adjustments.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical and electronic testing devices safely and effectively.
  • Experience assembling, installing, and repairing wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, drawings, repair manuals, parts catalogs, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams.
  • Competence in diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems and determining appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ability to operate hoists, forklifts, and similar equipment to dismantle and access machinery components.
  • Capability to complete accurate part orders and repair reports.
  • Mechanical focus: ability to perform welding tasks and troubleshoot industrial machinery.
  • Electrical focus: experience with PLC troubleshooting (without programming), limit switches, and ladder logic.
  • Ability to read and work from electrical schematics.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Capability to meet the physical requirements of working safely in an industrial maintenance environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics in an industrial setting.
  • background in preventive maintenance programs and maintenance repair activities.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining printing presses, gluers, formers, gears, and rollers.
  • Ability to bring and use personal tools for daily maintenance work.
  • Slight welding ability using MIG, TIG, or Stick processes for mechanically oriented candidates.
  • Root cause analysis skills for identifying underlying issues in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC systems from major platforms, with familiarity in ladder logic.
  • Experience working with limit switches and other industrial control components.
  • Comfort working in a union-supported environment.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with teammates and report maintenance findings clearly.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility operating 24/7. You will work around industrial production equipment, including machinery with drives, motors, gears, rollers, and automated systems. The environment requires safe use of hand and power tools, hoists, forklifts, welding equipment, and electrical and electronic testing devices. Technicians must be able to work either 8-hour or 12-hour shifts, depending on operational needs. The mechanically focused technician position primarily works a 3rd shift schedule from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., while the electrically focused technician position primarily works a 1st shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The work setting emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to established procedures, with appropriate industrial attire and personal protective equipment required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Stone Mountain, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.06 - $31.06/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
