We are working on a confidential search for an established Chicago-area civil/earthworks contractor with project work near Bradley, Illinois. This is an on-site Project Engineer role suited to someone early in their career who wants hands-on exposure to civil construction, earthwork, grading, quantities, drawings, field coordination, and project management.
\n
\n
This is a strong first step for a recent civil engineering, construction management, or related graduate who wants to learn from experienced project managers and field teams.
\n
\n
Responsibilities
\n
\n
- Support project managers and field crews with day-to-day project engineering tasks
\n
- Review plans, drawings, specifications, and field documentation
\n
- Assist with quantity takeoffs, material tracking, and change order documentation
\n
- Help coordinate field work, subcontractors, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and project records
\n
- Support grading, excavation, earthwork, and site/civil construction activities
\n
- Communicate clearly with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and crews
\n
- Learn and support construction technology tools such as Trimble, GPS/machine control, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar systems
\n
\n
Qualifications
\n
\n
- Recent or upcoming bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field
\n
- Internship, co-op, field engineering, estimating, survey, materials testing, or site/civil construction exposure is helpful
\n
- Interest in civil construction, excavation, grading, earthwork, utilities, or infrastructure work
\n
- Comfortable reading plans and learning construction documentation processes
\n
- Strong communication, organization, and follow-through
\n
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Trimble, GPS, or takeoff tools are a plus
\n
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
\n

Compensation
\n
\n
- $70,000-$80,000 base salary
\n
