Director of FacilitiesConfidential Leadership OpportunityA residential senior living community is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities to oversee building operations, maintenance, repairs, and property upkeep. This position is responsible for ensuring the physical environment remains safe, functional, well maintained, and prepared to meet the day-to-day needs of residents and employees.The ideal candidate is a hands-on facilities professional with strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. This individual will oversee routine and preventive maintenance, coordinate outside contractors, respond to facility needs, and provide leadership for the maintenance function.This search is being conducted confidentially. Additional information regarding the organization and location will be provided to selected candidates as appropriate.Primary ResponsibilitiesBuilding & Property OperationsDirect the daily maintenance and general upkeep of the property, including residential units, shared spaces, building systems, exterior areas, and grounds.Evaluate maintenance concerns and determine appropriate repair solutions.Respond to work orders and facility requests in a timely and professional manner.Perform or coordinate repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, appliances, fixtures, and other building components.Routinely inspect the property to identify repair, safety, and appearance needs before they become larger issues.Coordinate preparation of residential units for incoming occupants.Preventive MaintenanceEstablish and maintain schedules for routine inspections and preventive maintenance.Track the condition and service history of major equipment and building systems.Maintain records related to warranties, inspections, repairs, and scheduled service.Identify aging equipment or facility concerns requiring repair, replacement, or capital planning.Recommend practical improvements that support reliability, efficiency, and long-term property performance.Contractors & Service ProvidersCoordinate work performed by outside vendors, contractors, and specialty service providers.Obtain estimates and assist in evaluating proposed work when appropriate.Schedule contracted services and verify satisfactory completion.Maintain records related to service agreements, inspections, and warranties.Ensure outside providers follow appropriate safety and property procedures while onsite.Safety & PreparednessConduct routine safety checks of the physical environment and address identified concerns.Support required building, fire, life-safety, and equipment inspections.Maintain facility-related emergency equipment and procedures.Participate in emergency preparedness activities and respond appropriately to urgent building needs.Follow applicable workplace safety requirements and property operating procedures.Department AdministrationMaintain appropriate supplies, replacement parts, tools, and equipment.Monitor maintenance-related expenditures and support departmental budget planning.Track work orders, completed repairs, inspections, and other required documentation.Maintain maintenance areas, storage spaces, and equipment in an orderly and secure condition.Assist with planning and coordination of larger repairs, renovations, and facility projects.Leadership & ServiceProvide direction, training, and support to maintenance personnel as applicable.Establish clear expectations for workmanship, responsiveness, safety, and professionalism.Communicate effectively with residents, employees, leadership, contractors, and other stakeholders.Coordinate with other departments when maintenance needs affect daily operations.Approach resident requests with courtesy, discretion, and appropriate follow-through.QualificationsThree or more years of experience in facilities, building maintenance, property operations, or a related field.Experience in senior living, multifamily housing, hospitality, healthcare, commercial facilities, or another residential environment is preferred.Supervisory or team leadership experience is beneficial.Practical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliances, and general building repair.Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to determine when specialized contractors are required.Experience coordinating preventive maintenance and outside service providers.Ability to organize competing priorities and respond effectively to unexpected facility needs.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to perform the physical functions associated with building maintenance, including lifting, carrying, moving equipment, and working in various areas of the property.Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.Ability to satisfy applicable pre-employment screening requirements.About the OpportunityThis position offers the opportunity to take ownership of the physical operations of a residential community and play an important role in maintaining a dependable, comfortable, and well-cared-for environment.The Director of Facilities will work closely with community leadership while having direct responsibility for identifying needs, solving problems, coordinating resources, and ensuring facility operations remain on track.Qualified candidates interested in learning more are encouraged to apply.
