Job DescriptionFull-Stack Java and React Developer

Build and modernize mission-critical web applications that connect secure Java services with responsive React interfaces. This role owns development across the stack, from REST APIs and relational data through front-end behavior, testing, and deployment.

The best fit is a mid-to-senior full-stack engineer with 5-10 years of hands-on Java and React experience who can work in a structured, security-conscious environment and collaborate effectively with systems, UX, database, and DevSecOps partners.

Location: Andover, MA or Tucson, AZ

Schedule: First shift, 40 hours per week

Work Setting: Hybrid - three days per week onsite at the selected office

Role Type: Contract

Contract Duration: Approximately 6 months, with potential to extend or convert based on performance, business need, funding, and client approval

Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance; work begins at the unclassified level

Pay Rate: $64.00-$75.00 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and maintain full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Develop RESTful APIs and secure service integrations between front-end applications, backend services, identity platforms, and relational databases.
  • Translate system and user requirements into maintainable application components, reusable interfaces, and reliable data flows.
  • Partner with UI/UX designers, systems engineers, database administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and other developers throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Participate in peer reviews, automated and integration testing, defect resolution, and CI/CD deployment activities.
  • Troubleshoot application behavior across the stack and improve reliability, security, performance, and maintainability.
  • Support modernization or migration of legacy applications into current web architectures while protecting required functionality and interfaces.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and follow program-specific security, coding, configuration-management, and compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of professional full-stack software development experience.
  • Strong production experience with Java and Spring Boot on the backend and React on the frontend.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot RESTful APIs.
  • Strong foundation in object-oriented design, secure web development, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Experience with at least one relational database such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
  • Working experience with Git, automated build and deployment pipelines, code review, and Agile delivery practices.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to work onsite three days per week in Andover, Massachusetts or Tucson, Arizona.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering software for aerospace, defense, federal, or another regulated and security-sensitive environment.
  • Experience with Redux, Next.js, or a comparable React state-management or application framework.
  • Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Experience integrating OAuth 2.0, SAML, or comparable identity and access-management services.
  • Experience modernizing legacy Java or web applications and supporting secure deployment environments.
