Job Overview

Supervises facilities activities, tasks, and personnel. Provides guidance regarding projects, and assists with administrative duties of the facilities department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as back-up for Manager and Director of Facilities activities.
  • Provides guidance and direction to facilities technicians and laborers as needed.
  • Oversees projects as assigned to assure execution is correct, timely, and safe. Assists with managing the overall maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical components of the building and grounds
  • Recommends routine and emergency maintenance on systems and equipment as required.
  • Troubleshoots and takes corrective action to ensure structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and refrigeration operate as needed.
  • Communicates and meets with third party vendors as needed.
  • Assists with the ordering of parts and supplies.
  • Communicates with various personnel who need work done in their area. Handles facility work order management system(s) and assigns job tasks to technicians when Manager/Director are not available.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety regulations; trains staff as necessary on all new and updated regulations; ensures that health & safety standards are in conformance OSHA guidelines.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures for the facilities team and makes recommendations for improvements, additions and revisions.
  • Responsible for training new or existing employees on job responsibilities.
  • Communicates and documents any safety related issues and concerns. May partake in accident/incident investigations

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years in Facilities Maintenance.
  • Supervisory experience of at least 5 employees preferred.
  • Requires the basic knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with all facets of technical construction, plumbing, HVAC systems, electrical systems, etc. Requires knowledge of environmental safety and OSHA safety regulations. Must be able to work effectively with peers, staff members, and contracted workers.
  • Basic computer skills including effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Experience with a CMMS preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds alone or 150 pounds assisted. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risks associated with travel between buildings and back and forth to other areas as may be required due to business demands. The employee may be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve issues with extremely irate or difficult guests or staff members. The noise level in the work environment varies from light to moderate; extreme noise may occur and requires use of ear protection.

Licenses, Certifications, Registration: Requires a Professional Occupational License. Requires Florida driver's license.
