About the Job
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Human Resources, the HR Manager - HRIS & Payroll role is a high‑visibility, high‑impact leadership role at TFI USA.
This is your opportunity to lead, influence, and innovate within a critical function of the business. As our HRIS & Payroll Manager, you’ll drive the strategy and optimization of our HR technology and payroll systems, ensuring data integrity, system efficiency, and meaningful insights that support organizational growth. You’ll partner closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT leaders, serving as a trusted expert who translates business needs into scalable, effective system solutions.
In this role, you’ll lead system enhancements, reporting, and integrations while also assisting to develop the team and driving continuous improvement across HR operations. From ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance to delivering actionable workforce analytics, you’ll play a key role in how we leverage technology and data to make better decisions. Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end HRIS strategy, including implementation, configuration, and continuous improvement, while identifying opportunities for automation and process enhancements within HRIS and payroll functions to drive efficiency, ensure data accuracy, and support scalable HR operations and reporting.
- Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for the HRIS platform.
- Manage system configuration, upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and testing.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security across all HR systems.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
- Design, develop, and analyze standard and ad hoc reports using HRIS and advanced Excel tools (pivot tables, macros, formulas) to deliver actionable insights on headcount, turnover, compensation, and other key HR metrics.
- Partner with HR, Payroll, IT, and external vendors to maintain and enhance system functionality, while driving cross-functional collaboration, user adoption, and training across HRIS and Payroll functions.
- Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance management to support the development and effectiveness of assigned team members.
- Provide oversight of payroll operations to ensure timely and accurate processing, including federal, multi-state, and local compliance, and serve as backup to process payroll in the absence of the Payroll Administrator.
- Support payroll-related system integrations and troubleshoot discrepancies.
- Stay current with industry trends, system updates, and HR technology best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, data privacy regulations, and internal policies.
- Maintain audit readiness and support internal and external audits as needed.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of and strict adherence to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures set forth by Thomas Foods International, USA, while reinforcing these standards across teams.
- Required to travel to processing plant in Swedesboro, NJ as needed.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by management, within scope and ability.
Requirements/Education/Experience/Skills)
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5 years of HRIS and systems management experience.
- 2 years of multi-state payroll experience.
- Strong experience with HRIS platforms, reporting tools, and data integrations, including full lifecycle implementation (requirements gathering, configuration, data validation, and post-go-live support) with the ability to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas and data analysis.
- Familiarity with payroll systems and compliance requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and build strong partnerships.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong commitment to data accuracy, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.

Salary/Compensation Range: $90,000-$120,000 annually
This range represents the expected base salary rate for this position. Actual compensation will depend on experience, skills, and other factors. This role is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
