Imagine arriving on shift, reviewing the computerized maintenance queue, and plotting your day across production suites and R&D labs. You clear a pneumatic fault on a packaging line before morning startup, swap filters on an air handling unit, then partner with Engineering to stage equipment for a capital installation. By afternoon, you’re calibrating an instrument, closing out PMs in the CMMS, and documenting work to cGMP standards—keeping science and manufacturing moving without interruption.

What you’ll tackle

  • Maintain facility and production equipment so it’s safe, compliant, and ready when needed.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic issues across manufacturing and R&D areas.
  • Execute preventive maintenance: fluids and lubrication, filter changes, packing of mechanical assemblies, routine inspections.
  • Service and replace electronic/pneumatic instruments; perform disassembly/reassembly as required.
  • Install, relocate, and set up new or existing equipment; assist with engineering capital projects.
  • Support instrument calibration and equipment validation activities.
  • Work to OSHA, cGMP, SOP, and EHS requirements at all times.
  • Complete and submit demand/PM work orders; record accurate data in the CMMS.
  • Champion safety and cGMP programs; collaborate effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Follow additional job-related instructions and tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience; GMP environment strongly preferred.
  • Ability to quickly learn technical systems, troubleshoot, and resolve problems.
  • Foundational knowledge of electricity, pneumatics, hydraulics, and general mechanics.
  • Experience with electrical power distribution and control; able to read wiring diagrams and control circuits.
  • Proficient with measuring instruments and personal computers; CMMS familiarity preferred.
  • Knowledge of digital control systems/PLCs, chemicals/hazardous materials, calibration/validation a plus.
  • Training in electronics/metrology and/or Instrument Technician Certification preferred.

Physical demands

The physical demands of the role include both desk and hands-on work:

  • Sitting and frequent use of hands/fingers to handle tools, parts, and controls; reaching with hands and arms.
  • At times: standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing.
  • Vision needs include close, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Standing, walking, pushing/pulling, twisting, reaching overhead, and bending to floor level.
  • Ability to wear a respirator when working with specified potency chemicals.
  • Occasional lifting/moving up to 50 lbs (heavier items with mechanical assistance).
  • Periodic ladder/step climbing to access equipment.
  • Reading precision devices (dials, gauges, thermometers) and observing fine details, including via microscope.
