ONYX Multifamily Group is looking for a dependable and hardworking Porter to support the day-to-day appearance, cleanliness, and upkeep of Ellington Apartments, our multifamily community in San Antonio, Texas.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and understands the importance of maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming common areas for residents, guests, and team members.
If you have experience in Porter, Groundskeeping, Apartment Maintenance, Property Maintenance, Janitorial Services, or a related field and enjoy working in a hands-on environment, we want to meet you.
What You'll Own
As the Porter, you will help maintain the overall cleanliness, appearance, and curb appeal of the community. You will work closely with the Property Manager and maintenance team to ensure the property remains clean, presentable, safe, and welcoming.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of common areas, hallways, breezeways, stairways, and other assigned areas.
- Pick up litter and debris throughout the property and maintain a clean and orderly community.
- Clean and maintain property amenities, including community areas and other shared spaces.
- Assist with maintaining the appearance of sidewalks, parking areas, entrances, and exterior areas.
- Assist with trash removal and ensure trash and dumpster areas are kept clean and orderly.
- Help maintain the property's grounds, including basic landscaping and general outdoor upkeep.
- Sweep, mop, dust, wipe down, and clean assigned areas as needed.
- Assist with cleaning and preparing vacant apartment homes and common areas as directed.
- Support the maintenance team with basic property upkeep and non-technical maintenance-related tasks.
- Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, property damage, or other concerns to the Property Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
- Assist with moving or transporting supplies, equipment, furniture, or other items as needed.
- Help prepare the property for inspections, resident events, move-ins, and other community activities.
- Maintain cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment in an organized and safe manner.
- Follow established cleaning, safety, and property maintenance procedures.
- Respond to assigned tasks and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with residents, guests, vendors, and team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Property Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
What We're Looking For
A strong work ethic and attention to detail matter for this role.
Required or preferred experience includes:
- Previous experience as a Porter, Groundskeeper, Janitorial Worker, Apartment Maintenance Worker, Property Maintenance Worker, or in a related position preferred.
- Ability to perform cleaning, groundskeeping, trash removal, and general property upkeep duties.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean and attractive property.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to communicate professionally with residents, guests, vendors, and team members.
- Ability to recognize and report maintenance, safety, or property concerns.
- Ability to safely use basic cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a multifamily or apartment community.
- Experience with property grounds and common-area upkeep.
- Experience with cleaning equipment and basic maintenance tools.
- Experience assisting with apartment turns or make-ready preparation.
- Basic knowledge of property safety practices.
- Ability to identify and communicate maintenance concerns to the appropriate team member.
