TekPro is conducting a confidential search for a Maintenance Manager with an established food manufacturer in the western Chicago suburbs. This role is for a hands-on leader who can build a capable maintenance team, improve equipment reliability, and bring more structure to how maintenance work gets done.

The business is investing in its operation. The incoming manager will help set maintenance priorities, develop technicians, and guide equipment and automation improvements. The client’s identity and exact worksite will be discussed privately with qualified candidates.

The Assignment

- Lead the maintenance organization supporting a multi-shift manufacturing operation.
- Establish clear expectations for safety, response time, workmanship, and communication with production.
- Strengthen preventive maintenance and planned work to reduce recurring breakdowns and unplanned downtime.
- Coach technicians, assess skill gaps, and build training and accountability into the department.
- Use CMMS records, downtime data, and equipment history to prioritize corrective work and reliability improvements.
- Coordinate repairs, shutdowns, contractor support, and parts availability with production requirements.
- Partner with plant leadership on equipment upgrades, capital priorities, and automation implementation.
- Maintain safe work practices and support food safety and sanitation requirements during maintenance activity.

The Background That Fits
\n

- Maintenance leadership experience in food manufacturing or a comparable production environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge, with the ability to guide technicians through difficult equipment issues.
- A record of improving preventive maintenance, uptime, and team performance.
- Experience with CMMS, maintenance planning, spare parts, and contractor coordination.
- Practical people leadership: clear communication, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through.
- Experience supporting equipment installations, capital projects, or automation improvements is valuable.

Compensation & Benefits

\n
Base salary of $120,000–$155,000, based on experience. The benefits package includes health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings with a company match, and paid time off, subject to plan eligibility.
