Automated Equipment Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift

Location: Cockeysville, MD
Pay Rate: $31/hour on W-2
Shift: 2nd Shift
Onsite Position

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automated Equipment Maintenance Technician to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of highly automated manufacturing and packaging equipment.

This is a hands-on role combining machine operation with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic maintenance responsibilities. The technician will perform equipment setup, changeovers, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and production support while helping maintain quality, safety, uptime, and productivity standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and be comfortable troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment, including electrical circuits up to 480 VAC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair highly automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform minor and major routine maintenance and scheduled preventive maintenance (PM).
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment problems.
  • Control and adjust machine settings to maintain proper equipment performance.
  • Monitor production, quality, downtime, and waste levels.
  • Independently operate multiple production lines.
  • Perform equipment setup and manage product/changeover activities.
  • Troubleshoot complex machine-performance and product-quality issues.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for process and product exceptions.
  • Read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.
  • Read technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits ranging from low-level signals through 480 VAC.
  • Work with motors, gearboxes, belt and chain drives, sensors, and other power-transmission components.
  • Perform basic plumbing involving fluid and pneumatic systems.
  • Use multimeters, calibration equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Support automated filling, packing, assembly, labeling, and inspection processes.
  • Monitor equipment and product quality using established control procedures.
  • Maintain accurate quality, safety, production, and maintenance documentation.
  • Provide equipment and operator support throughout assigned manufacturing operations.
  • Work with external contractors and equipment vendors when required.
  • Perform work in accordance with established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Follow all applicable safety, housekeeping, quality, and operating procedures.
  • Work overtime when required to meet production needs.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • High School Diploma/GED plus relevant technical certificate and 2+ years of applicable experience, OR
  • High School Diploma/GED plus 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics.
  • Experience reading technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Ability to use a multimeter.
  • Electrical troubleshooting from low-level signals through 480 VAC.
  • Understanding of sensor technology.
  • Knowledge of motors, gearboxes, belt drives, and chain drives.
  • Basic fluid and pneumatic plumbing knowledge.
  • Basic machining knowledge.
  • Understanding of calibration techniques and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis abilities.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work within tight accuracy and tolerance requirements.
