Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Technical Specialist)
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician (Technical Specialist) is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and optimizing high-speed production lines used in the manufacturing of home and garden products. This role focuses on mechanical and basic electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of packaging and processing equipment to ensure maximum uptime and consistent product quality.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete set ups and changeovers of production lines, production machinery, and related equipment to support manufacturing schedules.
- Conduct maintenance on conveyors, gear boxes, motors, cappers, fillers, labeling machines, and packaging equipment to ensure reliable operation.
- Perform equipment adjustments, preventive maintenance, and repairs to maximize run time and minimize unplanned downtime on the production line.
- Carry out mechanical troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of breakdowns across all line equipment.
- Set up, run, and operate machinery and packaging lines, ensuring they are configured correctly for each product and production run.
- Replace motors and gearboxes as needed, including unwiring and rewiring motors for repair or replacement.
- Perform quality checks on both machinery and finished product throughout the shift to verify proper operation and product standards.
- Collaborate with on-shift electricians for high-level electrical issues while handling basic electrical tasks related to equipment maintenance.
- Work safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment alongside general production workers, machine operators, and forklift operators.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment performing general maintenance and setting up and running machinery and/or packaging lines.
- Minimum 2 years of experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing packaging equipment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience performing set ups and adjustments on machinery or equipment, including running and operating production machinery.
- Minimum 2 years of experience replacing motors and gearboxes.
- Demonstrated ability to perform quality checks on machinery and product to ensure consistent performance and output.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Experience with line maintenance and industrial maintenance in high-volume production environments.
- Basic electrical knowledge and hands-on experience, including the ability to unwire and rewire a motor for repair or replacement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on high-volume production lines is strongly preferred.
- Experience in food or similar regulated production environments is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with cappers, fillers, labeling machines, and packaging equipment in a manufacturing setting.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-speed manufacturing environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with machine operators, general production workers, and electricians.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product quality and equipment reliability.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility with high-speed production and packaging lines for home and garden products. You will work alongside general production workers, machine operators, and forklift operators in an industrial environment. Schedules follow a 4-days-on, 4-days-off rotation, with one shift running 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and another running 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Each shift includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch. An electrician is present on shift to handle higher-level electrical issues, while you focus on mechanical and basic electrical tasks. Expect a hands-on role around active machinery and moving equipment, with appropriate safety procedures and attire required for a manufacturing setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Overland, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.50 - $33.50/hr.
