Pay Rate: $20.00/hr., 40 hr. /week.
Hours can be flexible but typically cover three shifts from 0700-1500, 1500-2300 and 2300-0700
Sunday through Saturday.
Initial 90 days will be on day shift to receive proper training.
Long Term Position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Employee will work as a Fire Desk Technician in Range Control Operations. Must know AR-385-63 and
all range regulations and follow Standard Operating Procedures. Employee must attend Range Safety
training at first available opportunity. Maintain quality communications with ranges and training areas to
ensure the overall safety of all customers using the facilities. Conduct range sweeps using government
provided vehicle as required and clear the ranges and training areas upon completion of training
events. Maintain up to date logs and registers. Employee must have knowledge of military weapons,
regulations and understand navigation and map reading. Employee must be able to operate a
computer and perform minor cleaning duties. Employee will be required to interact with Federal
Aviation Administration for airspace request and management. Employee will be required to have a 90
day supervised training period and must attend and complete Range level Safety II.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Work requires the employee to follow proper safety procedures and use standard safety equipment
such as gloves, ear protection, and eye protection. Employee may be exposed to weather and
temperature extremes while working outdoors, under all weather conditions. Employee may also be
exposed to Unexploded Ordnance and wildfires. Employee may be required to supervise or work with
or around IDOC inmates.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift 30 lbs., move through steep terrain and occasionally climb over obstacles. This job
can be physically demanding due to requirements to walk long distances, fight fires and assist with
medical emergencies and aid in vehicle recovery.
