Job Description
About 3LC
\n
3LC illuminates the black box of Physical AI model training. We build the first full-loop platform for AI data preparation and optimization — combining labeling, debugging, and diagnosis so teams can ship better, smaller, faster models.
\n
\n
Across energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and aerospace, machines are learning to see the physical world — inspecting wind turbines, spotting crop disease, checking parts on a manufacturing line. They can only see as well as the data they learn from, and that data is usually messy. 3LC helps computer vision teams find and fix flaws in their training data, so the systems built on it see the world more clearly and reliably — all within the customer's own infrastructure.
\n
\n
We are a team of 14 across the US and Norway, backed by several leading VC firms, and growing fast.
\n
\n
The Opportunity
\n
Our platform runs both as a managed service and inside our customers' own infrastructure, across every major cloud. Shipping an ML application into someone else's cloud account — reliably, securely, and repeatably — is one of the hardest problems we have, and it's central to how we win.
\n
\n
We're looking for a senior engineer who has lived the full software lifecycle — from design and code through build, packaging, release, installation, and customer support — and who wants to own how 3LC is built, shipped, and operated everywhere it needs to run. You'll set the technical direction for our cloud and deployment foundation across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, and you'll have the seniority and judgment to make the calls, not just execute them.
\n
\n
This is a fully remote role open to candidates anywhere in the United States. We have team members in Boulder, CO and the Houston, TX area, and you're welcome to work with them in person when it's useful.
\n
\n
What You'll Do
\n
Architect and Own Multi-Cloud Infrastructure
\n
• Design, build, and operate 3LC's infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud — networking, compute, storage, identity, and cost.
\n
• Define infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent) so environments are reproducible across all three clouds and across customer accounts.
\n
• Architect for security, reliability, and the realities of deploying a data-heavy ML application into customers' own cloud accounts and private environments.
\n
\n
Ship Software Customers Can Run
\n
• Own CI/CD end to end — primarily on Azure DevOps — for build, test, packaging, and release, including gated pull-request workflows and quality gates.
\n
• Containerize and orchestrate our services and their data stores (including MongoDB) with Docker and Kubernetes, packaged and released with Helm.
\n
• Own the installation and upgrade experience for customer-hosted deployments, and be the senior technical escalation point when a customer deployment gets hard.
\n
• Automate everything that should be automated, using Python, YAML, and Git-based workflows.
\n
\n
Land 3LC on Every Marketplace
\n
• Create and maintain 3LC's listings on the AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud marketplaces — packaging, metering, entitlements, and updates.
\n
• Work with product and go-to-market so each cloud's procurement path is smooth for customers.
\n
\n
Keep Us Reliable, Observable, and Fast
\n
• Stand up monitoring, logging, and alerting so we catch problems before customers do.
\n
• Own incident response and post-incident learning (no on-call rotation today).
\n
• Drive down toil and technical debt — make the slow, manual, and fragile parts of our build and deployment fast and boring.
\n
\n
Lead Through Engineering Practice
\n
• Set standards for code review, testing, release management, and documentation across the engineering team.
\n
• Partner closely with our ML and application engineers on architecture decisions that affect how the platform is deployed and scaled.
\n
• Mentor others and help shape the team as we grow.
\n
\n
\n
What We're Looking For
\n
Must-Haves
\n
• 10+ years of professional software engineering, with substantial hands-on ownership of build, release, and deployment of production software.
\n
• Experience developing and deploying a web-based or ML application on at least one major cloud (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) — ideally more than one.
\n
• Production experience with Kubernetes and Docker; Helm-based packaging is a plus.
\n
• CI/CD pipeline ownership, with hands-on Azure DevOps (or TFS/VSTS) and/or Jenkins experience, and deep fluency with Git.
\n
• Strong Linux skills and strong programming ability in Python; comfortable reading and working across TypeScript, C++, or other languages in a polyglot codebase.
\n
• Full-lifecycle experience: requirements, design, implementation, testing, packaging, installation, and customer support.
\n
• A security-first, quality-first mindset — test-driven development, code review, and a strong sense of ownership for reliability, cost, and maintainability.
\n
\n
Nice-to-Haves
\n
• Experience delivering software into customers' own cloud or on-prem environments (BYOC / self-hosted delivery).
\n
• Experience with MongoDB or other data stores running on Kubernetes.
\n
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform, Pulumi, or similar; configuration management with Puppet or Ansible.
\n
• Experience publishing and maintaining cloud marketplace listings (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
\n
• Experience with AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, or Google Vertex AI; background in GPU workloads or data-intensive systems.
\n
• Experience with large-scale source control migrations, cross-platform builds, software licensing, or static analysis tooling.
\n
• Familiarity with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or other modern delivery tooling.
\n
\n
\n
What We Offer
\n
• A genuinely hard problem in AI — one that matters — at the layer that makes it all run.
\n
• Senior ownership: the cloud and deployment function is yours to shape and lead.
\n
• Fully remote work within the US, with a small, experienced team that moves fast, trusts you, and gives you room to build.
\n
• A clear path into technical leadership as we scale.
\n
\n
\n
Compensation & Benefits
\n
• Salary range: $180,000+ per year, depending on experience and location, plus meaningful equity.
\n
• Health, dental, and vision insurance.
\n
• 401(k) retirement plan.
\n
• Paid time off (25 days / 5 weeks) plus company holidays.
\n
• Equity / stock options.
\n
\n
This is a full-time, exempt position.
\n
\n
How to Apply
\n
Send your CV, a short note, and a few examples of your work — systems you've shipped, pipelines you own, repos, or write-ups that show how you think — to careers@3lc.ai.
\n
\n
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. This posting will remain open until the position is filled.
