Our challenge
We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Architect / Business Systems Architect to bridge business requirements with technology solutions. This role is responsible for designing scalable and future-ready system architectures, translating business needs into functional and technical specifications, and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in enterprise architecture patterns, API and integration design, business process transformation, and cross-functional collaboration across business, product, engineering, and data teams.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $130k-$150/year & benefits (see below)..
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Understand and translate business requirements into solution architectures, system designs, and functional/technical specifications
- Define end-to-end system architecture covering applications, integrations, data flows, workflows, and dependencies
- Design and drive architecture using modern enterprise patterns such as microservices, SOA, and event-driven architecture
- Lead API and integration architecture across enterprise platforms using middleware and integration technologies such as MuleSoft, Kafka, and related tools
- Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, engineering teams, and data teams to ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned to business goals
- Ensure architecture solutions comply with enterprise standards, security controls, and regulatory/compliance frameworks such as BCBS and SOX
- Support architecture governance, design reviews, and approval processes across projects and programs
- Provide recommendations on technology selection, modernization initiatives, cloud adoption, microservices transformation, and overall system optimization
- Act as a key liaison between business teams, product management, and technical delivery teams
- Document and maintain architecture artifacts including:High-Level Designs (HLDs)
- Low-Level Designs (LLDs), Data models, Process flows, Integration diagrams, System interaction documentation.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture patterns including:Microservices
- Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
- Event-driven architecture
- Hands-on experience with API design, integration frameworks, and middleware platforms
- Experience with tools/technologies such as MuleSoft, Kafka, and other integration solutions
- Strong ability to convert business requirements into technical architecture and functional specifications
- Experience defining application, data, and integration architectures for enterprise systems
- Knowledge of architecture governance, design standards, and enterprise solution review processes
- Familiarity with security, risk, and compliance standards such as BCBS, SOX, and enterprise control frameworks
- Experience in cloud architecture, modernization programs, and distributed systems design
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to work across both business and technical teams
- Excellent documentation and presentation skills
