GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Join a dynamic, growing small-vehicle company where your plastics and composites expertise will directly shape the next generation of golf, commercial, personal-transportation, and on-road vehicles. In this role, you will transform new product ideas into durable, high-quality production components—leading the full design and release process from concept development and material selection through supplier collaboration, tooling, manufacturing-process development, product validation, and launch. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Subject matter expert in 1 or more areas of plastic component design (exterior body panels, interior, chassis/structural components)
- Understanding of all processes to manufacture plastic components: injection molding, extrusion, compression molding, blow molding, thermoforming, and other common processes used for the manufacturing of products made from polymeric materials.
- Develop and maintain material and component specifications and qualification plans.
- Learn and contribute to requirements, risk analysis, DFMEA, DVP&R and specifications, engineering change notices.
- Employ project management methodologies that ensure a predictable outcome for development goals and responsibilities.
- Remove roadblocks and accelerate implementation of projects.
- Support the development of technology roadmaps and strategies
- Assist in developing test acceptance criteria using reliability and confidence in designs.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and drive cross functional team to achieve scheduled milestones for assigned projects.
- Effectively self-manage large projects or multiple smaller concurrent projects
- Expert in Problem solving techniques (9-step, 8D, etc.).
- First point of contact within engineering regarding customer issues.
- Mentor designers, lab technicians and other team members.
- Understand and influence regulatory standards that affect your product.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Plastics Engineering Technology or equivalent is required
- Knowledge of thermoplastic and thermoset materials
- Familiar with DFM, Mold Flow and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) required for the development of plastic parts.
Experience:
- 7+ years’ experience is recommended.

- High capability in in Microsoft products including, Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.

- This position may be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel; reach with hand and arms, and stoop, kneel or crouch as needed.
- Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
