Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and develop teams of Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Researchers, and AI specialists.
- Define and execute data science strategies aligned with product and business objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, experimentation, and continuous learning.
- Influence AI, product, and technology strategy across the organization.
AI & Machine Learning Development
- Drive development of AI-powered capabilities across:
- Generative AI
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Semantic Search
- Recommendation Systems
- Knowledge Graphs and Knowledge Systems
- Ensure AI solutions are scalable, explainable, measurable, and trustworthy.
- Establish best practices for experimentation, model evaluation, and responsible AI.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, UX, Analytics, Research, and domain experts.
- Translate complex scientific, customer, and business challenges into scalable AI solutions.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and executive stakeholders.
Operational Excellence
- Define success metrics and evaluation frameworks for AI products.
- Guide teams through the full lifecycle of AI product development, from concept to production deployment.
- Drive measurable business and customer outcomes through data-driven decision making.
Requirements
Essential
- Significant experience leading Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, NLP, Information Retrieval, or related technical teams.
- Proven success building and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong expertise in:

- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Retrieval Systems

- Experimentation and Model Evaluation
- Experience delivering AI-powered products from concept through production.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

- Ability to translate ambiguity into clear strategy and execution plans.
Preferred
- Experience within scientific publishing, research technology, healthcare technology, knowledge management, or information services.
- Familiarity with knowledge graphs, ontologies, metadata systems, and research data ecosystems.
