Job Description

About Odd Jobs

We're a Pittsburgh-based commercial facilities maintenance company that keeps retail stores and commercial sites running. Our technicians are the people store managers actually count on when something breaks — and we've built our reputation on showing up, doing it right, and finishing the job. We're growing, and we're looking for a skilled, dependable tradesperson to join the field team.

What You'll Do

This is a field position. You'll head out to assigned retail and commercial sites across our service area each day and handle whatever the scope of work calls for. No two days look the same, which is exactly why we need a well-rounded problem-solver rather than a one-trick specialist. On a given day you might:

  • Travel to multiple retail or commercial locations to complete scheduled maintenance, repairs, and service calls
  • Repair and maintain doors, hardware, flooring, plumbing, fixtures, and general building components
  • Address safety and security issues — securing doors, windows, floors, and working with alarm systems
  • Communicate clearly with our office and with client store managers so everyone knows the status of the work
  • See projects through start to finish, including managing around gaps when materials are on lead time
  • Work independently and make sound calls on site without needing someone over your shoulder

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years in one or more skilled trades — carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, roofing, or HVAC
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel within roughly a 50-mile radius of your home region
  • Versatility — comfortable wearing more than one trade hat in a single day
  • Strong problem-solving instincts and a proactive, figure-it-out attitude
  • Reliability above all: you show up when you say you will
  • Good time management and the ability to keep the office in the loop
  • A professional, easy-to-work-with demeanor with clients and teammates

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • OSHA 10 certification or similar safety training
  • Prior experience working in retail or commercial environments
  • Your own reliable work vehicle (we offer mileage reimbursement for technicians who drive their own vehicle)

Why Work With Us

  • Competitive pay — $25–$32/hour based on your experience and trade depth
  • Real variety — you won't be doing the same task in the same building every day
  • Mileage reimbursement for technicians using their own vehicle
  • Steady, year-round work with a growing company
  • A team that has your back — responsive office support and clear scopes of work, not chaos

Bonuses & Earning Opportunities

Beyond base pay, our technicians have access to performance-based earning opportunities — including quality/review bonuses and upsell bonuses — that reward the people who consistently do great work and look out for our clients. These are discretionary and tied to performance and company results, but they're a real part of how our best people earn more here. And as we grow, we're actively developing a profit-sharing program, because we want the people doing the work to share in what they help build.

Ready to Apply?

If you're a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in doing the job right and showing up when you said you would, we want to hear from you. Apply through ZipRecruiter with a short note about your trade background and we'll be in touch.
