Location: Oshkosh, WI
Employment Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $25.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience
Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Quality Engineering Technician to support manufacturing and production quality activities in an industrial environment. This position will be responsible for inspecting and testing manufactured components, supporting quality investigations, analyzing data, maintaining quality documentation, and working closely with production teams, suppliers, and customers.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within an ISO 9001 quality system, strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and experience using tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, Excel, and Minitab.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, and measure machined, fabricated, processed, and assembled parts for defects and conformance to specifications.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Use precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges, rulers, and other inspection tools.
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming materials or products.
  • Reject or disposition materials and products that do not meet established quality requirements.
  • Record and analyze inspection and test results.
  • Perform data analysis to identify quality trends, production gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor and report quality-related KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Support root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D and 5 Whys.
  • Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Develop, establish, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other quality documentation.
  • Manage deviations, document revisions, and change control related to product designs and machining or manufacturing operations.
  • Work directly with suppliers and customers regarding quality concerns, corrective actions, and technical issues.
  • Support production teams in resolving quality gaps and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Provide quality-related training and guidance to production personnel.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and corrective/preventive action activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of quality, manufacturing, inspection, or related technical experience.
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality management system.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control methods, and inspection techniques.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Hands-on experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Experience communicating directly with suppliers and/or customers regarding quality issues.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with 8D, 5 Whys, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
  • Strong computer skills, including:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Word
    • Minitab
  • Experience developing or maintaining SOPs and quality procedures.
  • Ability to analyze data, monitor KPIs, and communicate findings to manufacturing teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to exercise independent judgment while working within established procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting machining, fabrication, or assembly operations.
  • Experience with deviation management, revision control, and engineering or manufacturing changes.
  • Previous experience training production employees on quality procedures or process improvements.
