About the Role:
The Porter plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of the facility to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors, staff, and residents. This position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks, including waste removal, floor care, and general upkeep of public and private spaces. The Porter supports operational efficiency by promptly addressing maintenance issues and assisting with logistical tasks as needed. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying areas that need attention and collaborating with other team members to uphold high standards of hygiene and safety. Ultimately, the Porter contributes significantly to the smooth functioning and positive reputation of the organization through diligent and consistent work performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a porter, janitorial, or custodial role.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Basic knowledge of facility maintenance procedures.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays if required.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting floors and surfaces throughout the facility.
- Collect and dispose of trash and recycling materials in accordance with organizational policies and environmental regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of restrooms, break rooms, and common areas, replenishing supplies as necessary.
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies to support various departments and special events.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the appropriate personnel promptly.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards by following established cleaning protocols and using cleaning chemicals safely.
- Support the setup and breakdown of rooms for meetings, events, or other organizational activities as required.
