Position Overview:

We're seeking a Project Controls Manager to lead project performance, forecasting, scheduling, cost management, and risk analysis across a portfolio of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects throughout the United States. This role serves as a critical partner to project leadership, executive management, and clients, providing the insights and controls necessary to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.


Essential Functions:

Lead Project Controls Strategy

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve project controls systems, tools, and processes across multiple active projects.
  • Establish project performance baselines for cost, schedule, and resources.
  • Drive consistency and best practices across the project controls function.
  • Partner with project leadership to proactively manage project performance.

Cost Management & Forecasting

  • Lead project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
  • Perform earned value management (EVM) analysis and productivity assessments.
  • Identify trends, risks, and variances impacting project financial performance.
  • Support project teams in developing corrective action and recovery plans.

Schedule Management

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of integrated project schedules.
  • Monitor critical path activities, milestones, and schedule performance.
  • Evaluate schedule impacts and support mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure alignment between engineering, procurement, and construction activities.

Risk & Change Management

  • Facilitate project risk identification, analysis, and mitigation planning.
  • Maintain project risk registers and forecasting models.
  • Lead change management processes, including impact assessments and documentation.
  • Evaluate cost and schedule impacts associated with project changes.

Reporting & Executive Communication

  • Prepare and present project performance reports for executive leadership, project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Deliver clear analysis of project health, forecasts, opportunities, and risks.
  • Support data-driven decision making through actionable reporting and performance metrics.

Leadership, Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide training and ongoing support to project teams and new employees on projectcontrolprocesses, reporting requirements, scheduling tools, cost management systems, and emerging technology platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with estimating, procurement, engineering, construction, and finance teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of project controls technology solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of project controls experience within construction, EPC, energy, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
  • Strong experience with project cost control, forecasting, scheduling, and performance reporting.
  • Working knowledge of earned value management (EVM) principles and project performance measurement.
  • Experience managing large-scale project budgets and schedules.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project controls software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively to project sites across the United States. (up to 50%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, power generation, or renewable energy experience.
  • Primavera P6 scheduling experience.
  • Experience developing project controls standards and processes across multiple projects.

Working Conditions:

  • Combination of in-office and remote work(3 days in office, 2 days remote)
  • General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. 
  • Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite. 
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. 
  • Construction site environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds continuously throughout the day.
  • Exposure to all forms of weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, dry, humid, windy) for the entirework day.

Employee Status: Full-time (Exempt)


Salary / Pay Range: $80K-$160K


Location: Minneapolis, MN (Mendota Heights) with nationwide travel (up to 50%).
