Job Summary

\n

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) / DevOps Engineer to support the engineering and operational reliability of an internal cloud platform within a large enterprise banking environment. This role will focus on business-as-usual (BAU) engineering and production support for the Terraform application and internal cloud services, rather than developing Terraform automation or primarily provisioning infrastructure.

\n

The ideal candidate will have a strong Unix/Linux server administration background, proficiency in Python development, and hands-on experience with shell scripting, Java, and Ansible. The engineer will support the full lifecycle of cloud services, including design, deployment, operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance. Experience with VMware-based internal cloud platforms is particularly valuable.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Provide engineering and production support for the Terraform application and internal cloud services.
  • \n

  • Support the operational reliability, availability, and performance of enterprise cloud platforms.
  • \n

  • Monitor service availability, latency, system health, and other reliability indicators.
  • \n

  • Troubleshoot production incidents, identify root causes, and implement solutions to improve service stability.
  • \n

  • Maintain and support Unix/Linux server environments.
  • \n

  • Develop and maintain automation and support utilities using Python, shell scripting, Java, and Ansible.
  • \n

  • Support cloud services throughout their lifecycle, from initial design and deployment through ongoing operations and maintenance.
  • \n

  • Collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams to resolve technical issues and improve platform reliability.
  • \n

  • Use tools such as Jira and Bitbucket to manage work, track issues, and support engineering workflows.
  • \n

  • Contribute to continuous service improvement, operational consistency, and production stability.
  • \n

\n

Required Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • 5+ years of experience working with Unix/Linux server platforms.
  • \n

  • Strong Python development skills; Python is a mandatory requirement.
  • \n

  • Proficiency in shell scripting, Java, and Ansible development.
  • \n

  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux administration and troubleshooting.
  • \n

  • Experience supporting cloud services throughout their lifecycle, including deployment, operation, monitoring, and production support.
  • \n

  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps engineering, or a similar engineering-focused role.
  • \n

  • Experience supporting internal cloud platforms; VMware-based environments are particularly relevant.
  • \n

  • Familiarity with Jira, Bitbucket, and related engineering tools.
  • \n

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • \n

  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineering teams in an enterprise environment.
  • \n

\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Experience with VMware-based private or internal cloud platforms.
  • \n

  • Experience with Terraform, particularly supporting the application and its operational environment rather than primarily writing Terraform infrastructure code.
  • \n

  • Familiarity with Jenkins or XLR.
  • \n

  • Experience with public cloud platforms is beneficial, although the primary environment is an internal, VMware-based cloud.
  • \n

  • Previous experience supporting enterprise-scale applications and production services.
