Job DescriptionThe Opportunity

As a Janitor, you’ll help protect our mission by keeping campus spaces clean, safe, and welcoming for those we serve. This role exists to ensure multiple buildings remain sanitary and well-maintained so guests, volunteers, staff, and visitors can focus on meaningful impact.

Key responsibilities include routine cleaning and basic maintenance across assigned areas; using cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment safely; moving between buildings and addressing cleanliness needs promptly; and maintaining quality standards for restrooms, common areas, and exterior spaces.

Required qualifications/skills:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 3 years of custodial experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment
- Ability to follow verbal/written instructions; strong attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, able to work independently; good interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to stand/walk up to 8 hours; lift 25 lbs (occasionally 50); bend/kneel/reach; climb ladders up to 12 ft; work indoors/outdoors and around potential hazards

If you want purpose-driven work where your effort makes a difference every day, apply to be our next Janitor.

A Typical Shift

Your day as a Janitor starts by checking in on priority areas and planning your route across campus buildings. You’ll pace your work to keep spaces consistently ready for the community—handling a mix of indoor and outdoor tasks while adapting to changing temperatures and weather as you move between locations.

You’ll spend much of the shift on your feet, rotating through different environments and staying alert to what needs attention next. When unexpected messes come up, you’ll reset the space quickly and discreetly so others can continue their work without disruption. Throughout the day, you’ll interact courteously with staff, volunteers, vendors, and visitors, then wrap up by confirming areas are in good order for the next shift and documenting any maintenance concerns you noticed.
