Dominion Lock and Security, Inc. has served Central Virginia since 1975, specializing in electronic security, locksmith services, and related security solutions. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Commercial Electronic Security Technician to independently install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarm, and integrated security platforms. The technician will support new construction installations, retrofit and upgrade projects, and commercial clients across office, industrial, healthcare, education, retail, and hospitality environments throughout the local service area, with occasional extended assignments. Ongoing training supports career progression toward Senior Technician or Lead Installer opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, service, and maintain access control, CCTV, intrusion alarm, and integrated security systems.
- Support new construction installations, retrofit projects, and system upgrades.
- Perform low-voltage wiring, cabling, equipment installation, repairs, and maintenance.
- Interpret electrical blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and system designs.
- Troubleshoot hardware, system design, network connectivity, and equipment issues using hand and power tools.
- Conduct network diagnostics, system testing, calibration, and performance verification.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support for physical security system issues.
- Consult with clients to understand security needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Perform independent customer and project visits across the local service area and on occasional extended assignments.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience installing and servicing electronic security systems.
- Experience with alarms, access control, CCTV, intrusion detection systems, sensors, and fire alarms.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, networking principles, remote access software, and surveillance technology.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics and install low-voltage electrical wiring.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and cabling techniques.
- Knowledge of NEC standards related to low-voltage wiring and safety protocols.
- Mechanical knowledge and hands-on field service experience.
- Clear communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Virginia DCJS certification.
- Experience with access control systems, CCTV and video surveillance, intrusion alarm systems, and low-voltage cabling.
- Blueprint reading and troubleshooting experience.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Customer service experience.
