Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Systems Engineer to support and enhance a mixed infrastructure environment in Baltimore, Maryland. This role focuses on maintaining stable server operations, strengthening security and access controls, and contributing to cloud-connected solutions across on-premises and Microsoft platforms. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with Windows-based systems administration, a strong understanding of core infrastructure services, and a practical approach to reliability and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily administration of Windows and Linux servers to ensure dependable performance, availability, and system health.
• Manage core identity and policy services, including Active Directory and Group Policy, while maintaining secure and consistent access controls.
• Support and maintain virtual infrastructure across platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V to meet operational and business needs.
• Provide technical support for Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, helping maintain connectivity and functionality across hybrid systems.
• Contribute to cloud adoption efforts by assisting with hybrid deployments and migration-related infrastructure tasks.
• Monitor server performance, patch compliance, and overall platform reliability, taking action to resolve issues before they impact users.
• Handle complex troubleshooting for escalated server and infrastructure incidents, identifying root causes and restoring service efficiently.
• Strengthen operational resilience by improving automation, backup procedures, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Keep technical documentation current and establish configuration standards that promote consistency, security, and scalability.• At least 3 years of experience in systems engineering or systems administration roles.
• Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments in a business setting.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy administration.
• Experience managing Linux servers and supporting mixed operating system environments.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies, including VMware and Hyper-V.
• Exposure to Azure and Microsoft 365 administration within hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Understanding of identity management, system security practices, and access control concepts.
