Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099)
About the Opportunity:ZipStaff is seeking a Senior Full Stack Java Developer for an AI Lab team at a financial services organization. You will stay hands-on building Java / Spring applications and modern front ends while influencing architecture, quality, and mentoring. Work is AI- and data-enabled with Product Owners, data scientists, and business stakeholders.
What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java applications in a distributed environment.
• Build end-to-end features with React or Angular and Java / Spring Boot (Python or Node.js as needed).
• Own features from requirements through implementation, deployment, and production support.
• Contribute to AI-enabled and data-driven solutions with data and product teams.

• Participate in design and architecture discussions; run code reviews.
• Mentor less experienced developers and set engineering standards.
• Work with CI/CD and deployment automation; support OpenShift and Azure.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues.
• Apply RAG, embeddings, vector search, and agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI) where the product needs them.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years hands-on Java development.
• Strong Spring (MVC, Data, Security) and enterprise backend systems.
• Modern front end: Angular and TypeScript (React acceptable).
• SQL and NoSQL, data modeling, and performance.

• Messaging / asynchronous processing.
• Hands-on Azure.
• Agile (Scrum / Kanban).
• Ability to work on-site in Boston, MA (Philadelphia considered).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

• OpenShift / Unix-Linux.
• RAG, embedding models, vector databases, semantic search.
• LLMs and agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI).
• Python or Node.js in addition to Java.
• Mentoring and technical leadership on a small team.
