Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Technology Solutions of Charleston is looking for an experienced Senior Security Systems Technician to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a technician who can independently troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and commission commercial security systems.

\n


\n

Our work primarily involves commercial, K-12, higher education, and government facilities throughout the Charleston area.

\n


\n

What You’ll Be Doing

\n


\n

* Install, program, troubleshoot, and service access control systems

\n

* Troubleshoot card readers, access-control panels, door position switches, REX devices, electric strikes, maglocks, and electrified exit hardware

\n

* Install and troubleshoot CCTV/IP camera systems and NVRs

\n

* Troubleshoot gate operators, gate access control, and related hardware

\n

* Diagnose power supplies, batteries, UPS systems, network connectivity, and communication issues

\n

* Terminate and test low-voltage cabling

\n

* Read and interpret wiring diagrams, plans, and system documentation

\n

* Perform system commissioning and testing

\n

* Identify the root cause of system failures rather than simply replacing components

\n

* Communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, electricians, and other trades

\n

* Complete service documentation and work orders accurately

\n

* Assist junior technicians with troubleshooting and technical training

\n


\n

Required Experience

\n


\n

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of commercial low-voltage/security experience and be comfortable working independently in the field.

\n


\n

Strong experience in several of the following is preferred:

\n


\n

* Access control

\n

* Commercial security systems

\n

* CCTV/IP video

\n

* Gate operators

\n

* Electrified door hardware

\n

* Von Duprin and other exit devices

\n

* Electric strikes and maglocks

\n

* Access-control panels and controllers

\n

* Network switches and TCP/IP troubleshooting

\n

* Low-voltage power supplies and UPS systems

\n

* Structured cabling

\n

* Multimeters and other diagnostic equipment

\n


\n

The Right Candidate

\n


\n

We’re looking for someone who:

\n


\n

* Can walk onto a job and figure out what’s wrong

\n

* Understands electrical fundamentals and low-voltage systems

\n

* Can read a meter and properly troubleshoot voltage, continuity, polarity, and power issues

\n

* Doesn’t immediately start replacing parts without determining the cause of the failure

\n

* Can work independently without constant supervision

\n

* Takes pride in workmanship

\n

* Communicates well with customers

\n

* Keeps accurate service records

\n

* Is dependable and takes ownership of their work

\n

* Can mentor less-experienced technicians

\n


\n

Qualifications

\n


\n

* 5+ years of relevant commercial low-voltage/security experience preferred

\n

* Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

\n

* Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

\n

* Ability to lift equipment and work from ladders/lifts when required

\n

* Willingness to travel locally throughout the Charleston area

\n

* NICET, ESA, manufacturer certifications, or other relevant certifications are a plus

\n
