Job Description

Project Designer

ENV Architects | New York, NY | Full-Time

About ENV Architects

ENV Architects is a 35-person interior design firm based in New York City, known for delivering thoughtful, high-caliber environments across corporate, residential, hospitality, and retail sectors. We operate with a collaborative studio culture where creativity meets meticulous technical execution.

The Role

We’re looking for a talented and experienced Designer to join our studio team. This is a hands-on design role for someone who thrives equally in creative concepting and technical production — someone who can take a project from schematic design through construction documentation with confidence and craft. Communication with Clients, Contractors and other consultants will be important part of the role.

You’ll work closely with principals and project managers, mentor junior staff, and be a go-to resource for various aspects of the design process across the studio.

What You’ll Do

• Facilitate design development on multiple projects simultaneously, from concept through construction administration

• Participate in concept design phase including 3D models, renderings, and visualizations using SketchUp, Revit, and Enscape as needed

• Develop detailed design packages including space plans, elevations, material palettes, and finish schedules

• Collaborate with clients, consultants, and contractors — communicating design intent clearly at every stage

• Mentor and guide junior designers on technical workflows and design standards

• Participate in design reviews, lunch-and-learns, and studio initiatives

• Stay current on materials, vendors, and emerging tools in the industry

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Education – 5+ years of experience in interior design, with a portfolio demonstrating strong design thinking and technical skill - Primary experience in corporate interiors strongly preferred; background in residential, hospitality, or retail is a plus.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture - NCIDQ certification preferred (or actively pursuing).

Technical Skills Required - Proficiency in Revit for documentation and BIM coordination, Proficiency in SketchUp for 3D modeling and design. Demonstrated ability to work in and review Construction Documents. Demonstrated ability with Enscape for real-time rendering and client presentations. Competency in AutoCAD or the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) add value.

Design and Soft Skills - A sophisticated design sensibility with an eye for detail, proportion, and material. Ability to manage multiple deadlines without losing design quality. Clear and confident communicator with clients, consultants, and colleagues. Collaborative team player who takes ownership of tasks to completion.
