Driveline Systems Engineer
ND Defense builds military and commercial vehicles, from tactical wheeled vehicles to heavy trucks. In this role, you'll take on driveline work across several vehicle programs, with a mix of design, hands-on prototype support, and day-to-day problem-solving. No two weeks look the same, and the people who thrive here are comfortable shifting priorities without losing track of the details.
What You'll Do
- Work on driveline systems — including electric and hybrid drive components — for new vehicles and platform upgrades
- Juggle multiple programs and supplier relationships as priorities shift
- Tackle tough packaging, durability, and torsional problems that don't have a textbook answer
- Help shape how we document and standardize driveline engineering, since our processes are still evolving
- Get out on the shop floor during builds and testing to solve real fit and assembly issues
- Bring curiosity for AI tools to speed up your day-to-day work
What We're Looking For
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or something related
- 3 or more years of experience in driveline, powertrain, or chassis engineering — automotive, defense, or heavy vehicle background all work
- Comfort reading and working with 3D CAD (Creo, NX, CATIA, or similar)
- Bonus if you know your way around transmissions, driveshafts, transfer cases, axles, wheel ends, or tires
- An interest in AI tools is a plus — not required to walk in the door with it
