Job Description
This role focuses on performing mechanical maintenance on industrial sewing machines and related production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. You will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain sewing machines and facility equipment, supporting continuous production and helping the site achieve its operational goals. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude with small machines, the ability to replace and adjust parts, and a commitment to preventive maintenance and workplace safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance, tune-ups, and thorough cleaning of sewing machines to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life.
- Replace worn or damaged parts such as needles, belts, motors, and presser feet, ensuring all components operate within specified tolerances.
- Disassemble and reassemble small machines as needed to inspect components, perform repairs, and restore equipment to proper working condition.
- Install and maintain production and facility equipment in accordance with safety, predictive, and productive maintenance processes.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on sewing machines and related equipment using appropriate diagnostic testing methods.
- Conduct effective repairs to minimize downtime in production lines and restore equipment to optimal performance.
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis to maintain consistent stitch quality and overall machine reliability.
- Adjust machines for different fabrics, stitch types, and garment patterns, including calibrating needle and thread tension and configuring machines for high-speed production.
- Ensure proper stitch formation to prevent skipped stitches, thread breaks, or fabric damage.
- Carry out technical assessments of manufacturing problems related to series tools and implement professional corrections for tool-related issues.
- Schedule necessary equipment repairs and ensure timely execution to support production requirements.
- Coordinate with the supervisor when technical or quantitative problems cannot be resolved with reasonable effort.
- Change over tooling and configure machines to the appropriate setup for specific operational and production needs.
- Maintain order and cleanliness in the workshop and work areas, adhering to housekeeping standards.
- Comply with occupational safety requirements and follow all safety procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience performing mechanical maintenance on sewing machines or similar small industrial machines.
- Ability to disassemble, repair, and reassemble small mechanical equipment accurately and safely.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and basic electrical issues in a production environment.
- Hands-on experience with preventive and predictive maintenance practices for production and facility equipment.
- Proficiency in small parts repair, including replacement and adjustment of components such as needles, belts, motors, and presser feet.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills specifically related to sewing machines and industrial sewing equipment.
- Capability to adjust sewing machines for various fabrics, stitch types, and garment patterns, including tension and speed settings.
- Ability to perform diagnostic testing and implement effective repairs to reduce equipment downtime.
- Attention to detail to maintain consistent stitch quality and machine reliability.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work environment and following occupational safety guidelines.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing environment focused on industrial sewing and related production activities. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with on-call expectations from Friday through Sunday as needed to support equipment uptime. You will work around production machinery, tools, and small mechanical components, performing hands-on maintenance and repairs in a workshop setting and on the production floor. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to occupational safety standards, with an expectation that work areas remain orderly and free of hazards.

This is a Permanent position based out of Dunlap, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $68640.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
