Job Title: Day Shift Maintenance Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on industrial maintenance within a manufacturing facility that produces blown film extrusion plastic films used across food, automotive, construction, and household industries. The Maintenance Technician works in a true multi-craft capacity, splitting time between mechanical and electrical work on extrusion and wrapping machines, as well as supporting facility systems and automation equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform industrial maintenance on extrusion machines, wrapping machines, and related production equipment inside a manufacturing facility.
- Troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical issues, working in a role that is approximately 50% mechanical and 50% electrical.
- Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment problems.
- Work with electrical panels, including 480V and 3-phase motors, ensuring safe and effective operation.
- Conduct PLC troubleshooting, primarily on Siemens systems, without the need to program or read ladder logic.
- Support and maintain robots and automated systems used in the production process.
- Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and man lifts as needed to access equipment and perform maintenance tasks.
- Perform facilities maintenance tasks, which may include basic plumbing, HVAC support, painting, and other building maintenance duties.
- Use a multimeter to test and verify electrical systems and components during troubleshooting and repair.
- Climb stairs and access equipment up to three stories high to inspect, maintain, and repair machinery.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to facility safety protocols.
- Work independently during assigned weekend shifts, coordinating with maintenance personnel who are available on call as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to support reliable equipment operation.
- Support production uptime by responding promptly to equipment issues and working collaboratively with operations personnel.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Hands-on experience working with 480V and 3-phase electrical systems.
- Ability to understand and work safely with electrical panels.
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics and their application in industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Proficiency using a multimeter for electrical troubleshooting and testing.
- Comfort climbing stairs and working at heights up to three stories.
- Willingness to work independently, particularly on assigned weekend shifts.
- Ability to comply with facility requirements, including wearing hair nets and beard nets and refraining from nail polish.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting, especially with Siemens systems.
- Welding and fabrication.
- Experience working with automation and robotics.
- Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, and man lifts.
- Exposure to facilities maintenance tasks such as plumbing, HVAC, and painting.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, especially with extrusion or blown film processes.

Work Environment
The role is based in a blown film extrusion manufacturing facility that produces plastic films for a wide range of applications, including food packaging, automotive, construction, and household products. The primary schedule is a day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on a 2-2-3 rotation, with training initially conducted on a Monday–Friday day shift for approximately one month. The position requires working every other weekend and being comfortable working independently during those weekend shifts, with team members available on call as needed. The facility is very clean, in part because some products are food grade, and it is not excessively hot due to the use of spot coolers and air conditioning around the plant. Maintenance staff have access to provided tools, toolboxes, tool carts, and carts or bicycles to move efficiently throughout the facility. Dress requirements include wearing hair nets and beard nets where applicable, and nail polish is not permitted to maintain product and facility standards. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and long-term employee tenure.
