New Haven based Non-Profit Corporation seeking part time maintenance worker / handyman.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Perform general repairs and maintenance throughout 34 neighborhood properties, including public areas and backyard spaces.
*Repair and patch drywall, including holes, cracks and damaged surfaces.
*Perform interior and exterior painting and touch up work as needed.
*Repair, replace and maintain flooring, including hardwood and tile.
*Assist with minor plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, sinks, drains and minor leaks.
*Perform basic electrical repairs and troubleshooting, such as replacing light fixtures, switches, outlets, and bulbs, when qualified and permitted.
*Repair and maintain doors, locks, hinges, closers, and other fixtures.
*Respond promptly to maintenance requests and tenant work orders.
*Identify and report major maintenance issues requiring specialized contractors or licensed technicians.
*Maintain property grounds and exterior areas, including basic repairs and general upkeep.
*Keep maintenance tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized and secure.
*Maintain accurate records of completed work and report recurring or significant issues to management.
*Provide professional and courteous service when dealing with tenants and housing personnel.
*Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
*15 to 20 years of experience in house / apartment maintenance, hotel maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction or a related field preferred.
*General knowledge of drywall, painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, flooring and general building repairs.
*Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
*Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
*Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations when necessary.
*Valid drivers license preferred.
