Job Description

Overview

CTG is seeking a Platform Services Engineer. The Platform Services Engineer designs, builds, and operates the shared infrastructure platforms that support clinical and business applications, including hyperconverged virtualization, virtual desktop and end-user computing, identity and Microsoft 365, core Windows and Linux services, and backup and resilience. The role is responsible for keeping these platforms secure, available, and supportable in a 24x7 healthcare environment where downtime can impact patient care.

This position plays a hands-on role in large-scale infrastructure modernization and platform consolidation initiatives, including Microsoft 365 and identity transformations, virtualization platform migrations, VDI modernization, and the standardization of builds, tooling, operational processes, and support models across multiple locations.

The engineer collaborates closely with Infrastructure Services, Application Teams, Information Security, Networking, Service Desk, and vendor partners. Work is delivered through structured project and change management processes with defined entry and exit criteria, planned maintenance windows, and documented rollback procedures. Success is measured by platform availability, successful cutovers with minimal operational disruption, reduced technical debt, and automation that improves efficiency and reliability.

Virtualization & Hyperconverged Infrastructure

  • Design, deploy, and operate Nutanix clusters (AHV, AOS, Prism Central) across data centers.

End-User Computing & Virtual Desktop

  • Support migration of legacy VDI users and desktop pools to the target platform with minimal disruption to clinical and business operations.

Identity & Microsoft 365 Platform

  • Support Microsoft 365 and Entra tenant consolidation, including cross-tenant mailbox migration, coexistence, and identity cutover.

Core Infrastructure Services

  • Partner with Networking on load balancing, firewall rules, segmentation, and connectivity between enterprise locations.

Merger Integration & Project Delivery

  • Assess legacy platforms, document current state, and recommend target-state standards.
  • Deliver assigned workstreams for consolidation, migration, and modernization projects.
  • Work with implementation partners and vendors (e.g., Nutanix, Microsoft, Omnissa, Imprivata), holding them to scope, quality, and knowledge-transfer commitments."

Documentation, Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across distributed infrastructure and support teams.
