General Maintenance Technician
Location: Groton, CT 06340
Shift: 2nd Shift (Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM)
Pay Rate: $35.00 – $41.00/hour
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Facility Maintenance / Plumbing Systems Technician to support facility operations at our client site in Groton, CT. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and plumbing maintenance experience and be committed to delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining critical building systems in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Facility & Plumbing Systems Maintenance
- Respond to work orders, troubleshoot issues, and perform preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Maintain and repair:

- Plumbing systems
- Mechanical equipment
- Pumps and piping systems
- Backflow preventers
- Drainage systems
- Water filtration systems
- Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems.
- Install and repair bathroom plumbing fixtures.
- Perform pipefitting repairs and mechanical system maintenance.
Building Systems Support
Maintain and repair facility systems including:
- Chilled Water Systems
- Reheat Systems
- Potable & Non-Potable Water Systems
- Hot Water Distribution Systems
- Distilled Water & Reverse Osmosis Systems
- Laboratory Gas Systems
- High & Low Vacuum Systems
- Instrument Air Compressors & Dryers
- Waste Discharge Systems (Effluent, Lab Waste, Storm & Sewage)
Equipment Maintenance
- Inspect major equipment and operating systems.
- Perform corrective maintenance as required.
- Maintain pumps, fans, heat exchangers, valves, and related equipment.
- Conduct maintenance on:

- Backflow preventers
- Eyewash stations
- Safety showers
- Water filtration systems
Safety & Compliance
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Comply with:

- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Wear required PPE and follow all safety protocols.
Tools & Documentation
- Operate hand and power tools including:

- Grinders
- Saws
- Impact wrenches
- Drills
- Standard plumbing and mechanical tools
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper maintenance records.
- Utilize CMMS/EAMS systems when applicable.
Customer Service & Teamwork
- Work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders.
- Support site emergencies and provide timely issue resolution.
- Prioritize workloads while maintaining attention to detail.
- Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and strong problem-solving skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance and plumbing.
- Hands-on experience maintaining, repairing, and operating mechanical building systems.
- Ability to pass a respirator medical evaluation and fit test.
- Strong computer skills including:

- Valid driver's license (or ability to obtain one).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials.
Work Authorization
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

- Technical Degree preferred.
- Experience in GMP-regulated environments such as:

- Ability to read and interpret:

- Repair manuals
- Technical drawings
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- EAMS experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow written, oral, diagrammatic, and scheduled instructions.
