Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and optimizing high-speed production machinery used to manufacture bottles filled with sterile saline solutions. You will work primarily on third shift, ensuring reliable equipment performance, supporting production line startups, and completing thorough documentation throughout the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, diagnose, and troubleshoot production machinery to minimize downtime and maintain consistent output.
  • Work on blow, filling, sealing, and labeling machines used to produce bottles filled with sterile and saline solutions.
  • Maintain and service mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Set up production equipment and perform line changeovers in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
  • Handle production line startup, monitor equipment performance, and perform necessary adjustments and repairs during operation.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to prevent unplanned failures and extend equipment life.
  • Follow detailed documentation requirements throughout the production process, including maintenance records, setup logs, and process protocols.
  • Support process improvements by identifying recurring issues and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve equipment and process issues in a timely manner.
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills on PLC-controlled equipment; experience with PLCs is helpful for this role.
  • Apply proper repair techniques and maintenance practices to blow molding and blow fill equipment, including mold tooling.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation when performing maintenance and setup tasks.

Essential Skills

  • 4+ years of maintenance experience in plastics, molding, medical/pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing environments, OR 5+ years of process technician experience in the plastics industry.
  • Hands-on experience with machinery setup in a production environment.
  • Strong background in industrial maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proven ability to repair, troubleshoot, and maintain production machinery and equipment.
  • Experience with maintenance documentation and adherence to protocols within a regulated or process-driven environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills on high-speed manufacturing equipment.
  • Comfort working on blow, fill, seal, and labeling equipment or similar packaging machinery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of blow fill seal machinery experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience independently setting up and running blow fill seal lines and related equipment systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and control systems.
  • Experience with blow molding processes, maintenance repair, and mold tooling.
  • background as a process technician in plastics manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of repair techniques specific to industrial and packaging equipment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility that produces medical products. You will work primarily on third shift, Monday through Friday from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with regular opportunities for overtime, including weekend work, providing 50–60 hours per week. The environment includes high-speed production lines, blow fill seal machinery, and other automated equipment, supported by industrial mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Work is performed in a controlled setting consistent with FDA-qualified manufacturing operations, with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to detailed procedures and documentation

This is a Permanent position based out of Vernon Hills, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $37.00/hr.
