Position Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Continuous Improvement Leader to drive operational excellence across our manufacturing operations. The role focuses on identifying and implementing process improvements that increase productivity, reduce waste and scrap, improve quality, and lower costs. The ideal candidate will lead cross-functional teams, apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and deliver sustainable improvements in stamping, fabrication and sheet metal production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute Continuous Improvement initiatives across stamping, fabrication, and sheet metal operations to improve throughput, quality, and yield.
- Use Lean, Six Sigma (DMAIC), Kaizen, value stream mapping and workflow analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Plan and facilitate Kaizen events, rapid improvement workshops, and cross-functional problem-solving sessions.
- Develop and implement standard work, visual management, and process controls to reduce variability and scrap.
- Drive waste reduction initiatives (material, time, motion, and process inefficiencies) and quantify cost savings and productivity gains.
- Coach, mentor and train production teams and supervisors on continuous improvement tools, methodologies and best practices.
- Establish, monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as scrap rate, first pass yield, cycle time, downtime and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production and Procurement to ensure sustainable process changes and effective implementation of new work standards.
- Lead root cause analysis for quality issues using data-driven techniques and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support implementation of workflow and process improvements related to stamping presses, fabrication cells and metal forming equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related field; relevant technical diplomas accepted with strong experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on continuous improvement or process improvement experience in manufacturing, preferably in stamping, sheet metal, fabrication or metalworking environments.
- Proven expertise in Lean manufacturing, Kaizen facilitation, value stream mapping and workflow optimization.
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt required; Black Belt preferred) or equivalent experience applying DMAIC and statistical tools.
- Strong track record of reducing scrap, waste reduction, and implementing process controls that improved yield and lowered costs.
- Experience with stamping presses, sheet metal fabrication processes, welding, forming and related tooling is highly desirable.
- Proficient with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab or similar), process mapping software and basic MES/ERP familiarity.
- Excellent project management, communication and change leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to train and mentor teams, lead cross-functional projects, and sustain continuous improvement gains in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
