Our work ranges from ground-up construction and fully managed turnkey projects to complex renovations, facility expansions, structural modifications, re-roofing, and retrofit work within active facilities. In addition to general contracting, Evans Builders self-performs several key trades, including concrete, structural and miscellaneous steel, pre-engineered metal building erection, demolition, and doors and hardware.

This breadth of experience allows us to serve as either the general contractor responsible for complete project delivery or as a specialized contractor working alongside other builders and project managers.

The Opportunity\n

Evans Builders is seeking a full-time Project Estimator to join our team in Salisbury, Maryland. This is an on-site position focused on estimating commercial and industrial construction projects throughout our market.

\n

The Project Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and well-supported estimates from initial plan review through final bid submission. This position works closely with company leadership, project managers, field personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop a complete understanding of project scope, potential construction challenges, cost, and risk.

As part of a closely integrated team, the Project Estimator will have direct involvement in project selection, preconstruction, bidding strategy, and the transition of successful bids into construction.

Responsibilities\n

• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents to develop a thorough understanding of project requirements.

\n

• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.

\n

• Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals for scope coverage and pricing.

\n

• Develop estimates for both subcontracted work and Evans Builders' self-performed scopes.

\n

• Identify scope gaps, potential construction challenges, project risks, and cost-saving or value-engineering opportunities.

\n

• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.

\n

• Prepare bid proposals, scope clarifications, exclusions, and supporting estimate documentation.

\n

• Maintain and update historical cost information to improve estimating accuracy.

\n

• Work with project management and field personnel to compare estimated costs with actual project performance.

\n

• Assist with budgeting, change-order pricing, and preconstruction efforts as needed.

\n

• Manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications\n

• Experience estimating commercial, industrial, or institutional construction projects.

\n

• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

\n

• Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and developing labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

\n

• Understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, and general project execution.

\n

• Strong analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail.

\n

• Ability to communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, project managers, and field personnel.

\n

• Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and other construction-related software.

\n

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

\n

• Experience with self-performed concrete, structural and miscellaneous steel, PEMB, demolition, or similar trades is a plus.

\n

• An associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is beneficial but not required. Relevant construction and estimating experience will be equally considered.
