Senior Systems Engineer
Location: New Orleans, On site
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to manage and modernize a large-scale, multi-site technology environment supporting thousands of users. This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced infrastructure professional who can independently manage critical systems, solve complex technical issues, and improve the security, reliability, and performance of enterprise IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, identity, and cloud services.
- Administer VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, enterprise servers, and storage platforms.
- Maintain backup, replication, disaster recovery, and business continuity systems.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, capacity, availability, and security.
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex system issues.
- Apply security updates, remediate vulnerabilities, and support compliance requirements.
- Manage data center equipment, including servers, storage, UPS systems, PDUs, racks, power, and environmental monitoring.
- Coordinate hardware installations, upgrades, maintenance, and vendor support.
- Create technical procedures, system diagrams, configuration records, and recovery plans.
- Serve as a senior escalation resource and provide technical guidance to IT staff and project teams.
Preferred Technical Experience
- VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter
- Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
- Dell EMC PowerStore, Unity, PowerScale, Synology, or similar storage platforms
- Veeam or comparable backup and recovery solutions
- SAN, NAS, and storage virtualization
- Google Workspace and email security platforms
- Data center operations and server hardware
- Infrastructure monitoring and performance tools
- Disaster recovery, change management, and technical documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or a related field-or equivalent professional experience.
- Seven or more years of systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or systems engineering experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale, multi-location enterprise environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with internal teams and technology vendors.
- VMware, Microsoft, CompTIA, ITIL, Dell EMC, Veeam, or related certifications are preferred.
