Overview
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to support the complete modernization of a mission-critical childcare management platform. The application is used to track children in care, manage parent communications, maintain allergy and care information, facilitate pickup workflows, and provide operational visibility across the platform.
The existing solution was originally acquired more than 20 years ago and is being rewritten from the ground up using modern technologies. The new platform leverages Angular on the frontend and Java/Spring Boot on the backend, while integrating with connected products and identification technologies that support child tracking and operational workflows.
This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong frontend emphasis, consisting of approximately 70% Angular development and 30% Java backend development. The engineer will work closely with a small team in a highly collaborative environment while contributing across the full application stack.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack application features.
- Build and maintain Angular-based user interfaces using TypeScript and modern frontend development practices.
- Develop and support Java/Spring Boot backend services and APIs.
- Contribute to the modernization of a legacy enterprise application into a scalable, maintainable platform.
- Develop functionality supporting child registration, care management, parent communications, notifications, pickup workflows, and operational visibility.
- Build and maintain REST APIs and integration points with connected systems and third-party platforms.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Support database design, application performance, security, and reliability initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product partners, and business stakeholders.
- Support CI/CD processes and modern software delivery practices.
- Contribute across frontend, backend, and hybrid mobile-enabled functionality as needed.
- Maintain high standards around security, performance, reliability, and code quality.
Required Experience
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- 5+ years operating in a Senior Software Engineer or Technical Lead capacity.
- Strong experience with Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, and RxJS.
- Experience building and supporting enterprise-scale Angular applications.
- Experience developing backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with RESTful services, API design, and system integrations.
- Strong SQL and relational database experience, including MySQL, MariaDB, or equivalent.
- Experience working within CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development environments.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, security best practices, and code quality standards.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of solutions, and drive work forward with minimal direction.
- Proven ability to remain calm and effective when dealing with production issues, deadlines, or changing priorities.
Preferred Experience
- Experience modernizing or replacing legacy enterprise applications.
- Experience with Node.js REST APIs.
- Experience with OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT authentication, and enterprise SSO solutions.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or similar containerized deployment platforms.
- Familiarity with WebSocket technologies and real-time application development.
- Experience with Redis, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems.
- Experience integrating software applications with connected devices, hardware-enabled systems, identification technologies, or third-party platforms.
- Exposure to Capacitor or hybrid mobile application frameworks.
- Experience developing mobile-enabled solutions (not a dedicated mobile development role).
- Experience with AWS or cloud-native application development.
- Familiarity with Grafana, Prometheus, observability platforms, and application monitoring tools.
- Experience with NGINX and multi-service application environments.
- Performance testing and production support experience.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership initiatives.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, generative AI technologies, or AI-related projects. Professional or personal experience is acceptable, provided the candidate can speak meaningfully about their experience.
Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
